Its officially my favorite drama of the season. I'm definitely enjoying all of the scenes and it runs at a really good pace. Sometimes, I even end up watching the episode more than once. Episodes 6, 8 & 9 were my favorites so far. It just showed a lot of Komikado-sensei's other side.
Episode 6 was the battle with his Ex-wife in a Celebrity Divorce Case.
Divorces are messy (specially high profile ones like this one) and that's the reason why Komikado-sensei doesn't want to take the case, initially. They then find out the lawyer being employed by Miki-sensei is his ex-wife. They both new each other's capabilities and it was a good way to show bits of Komikado's past. I love that by the end they still have some 'feelings' for each other. I say 'feelings' in a sense that you could see that they did love each other at some point in the past as they reminisce the coin/medal that Komikado received when they both won the case together.
Episode 7 was an okay episode, for me its still funny. Its a messy inheritance case of a Soysauce Company involving Mayuzumi's cousin but I like the succeeding episodes more probably because its Komikado-centric. XD
Spoiler-ish caps under the cut. BD Episode 8 is the case between the "Genius Child Actor" and her Mother.
Genius child actress files a case against her mother for being the cause of what she's going through right now, being involved with underaged drinking and relationships with men waaaay older than her. She claims that its her mother's fault as to why at 12-years old she already has a troubled life and a dwindling career. She seeks to cut ties with her mother and live out a normal life after her career is now damaged. I'm very happy to see Yoshida Riko-chan again. Its been a while (for me) and she grew up really pretty and still very talented. Her acting is very mature I'm happy that she was able to pull her role off and be cute at the same time. I'm also glad that this case allowed the audience to get a glimpse of Komikado-sensei's past since the lawyer employed by Miki-sensei is none other than his own father.
This exchange was not only in regards to their clients' relationship but it was also in parallel of theirs. The subtleties of their expressions incorporated with their script was really well done. The ending was realistic in the case of a 'severed' parent and child relationship, imo. This episode actually made me tear-up. :P The audience were also given light to the mystery that envelopes Hattori-san's character.
Episode 9 is the case between the local elder villagers against a very influential company.
As usual, Komikado-sensei refuses to accept this case because he has promised that he will never be going back to the countryside and he hates the elderly. He ends up getting dragged into the case as Mayuzumi discovers that he was the one responsible for the factory being set up 5 years ago. Komikado-sensei realizes that Miki-sensei is setting him up for this battle and he accepts the challenge. The next part of the story will be continued on the next episode.
This episode combined both funny and intense scenes since it involves the relationship of Komikado & Miki-sensei (everything is intricately woven). Sakai Masato's scenes with Koike Eiko were both hot and funny and I enjoyed their exchanges very much. XD
His speech to the elders at the end was very moving and its showed that Mayuzumi's respect for him has definitely grown after that. Also, the relationship between Hattori-san and Komikado-sensei is beautifully done like a real father and son, one can definitely feel the mutual respect that they have for one another.
The character development in this drama is really good and definitely moving at a good pace. Sakai Masato acted great in this character as he manages to show Komikado's different layers. He also has a very strong supporting cast. Mayuzumi might be boring at first but she'll eventually grow on you as she slowly changes her perspective on Komikado and finally realizes everything that he has been trying to point out from the beginning (like his perception of the clients). I really think that Komikado's movements and his thoughts are already well calculated by him only to be proven right at the end by the misconstrued Mayuzumi.
I don't know what to do when this drama has finally concluded... /already in withdrawals. I hope I made sense. XD I can't write anything coherent right now. lol.
