Did a hike today to scout the full length of one of the local paved bike/hike trails. 5.7-ish miles in total. And I neglected to take water with me. By the end I was dehydrated (drank about a quart of grapefruit juice when I got home), my feet felt like they had blisters on the soles (but they don't, thankfully) and my legs and hips were quite sore.
I miss being young and being able to just walk, run and so on for hours without getting sore. Getting old is no damned good. And after nearly a decade of being far too lax about my fitness, it's not so easy to just whip myself back into shape. Certainly not as easy as I'd like for it to be.
