Mind you, I don't expect anybody to fulfill any of these--the reason why I stopped partaking in this meme after 2006. It's probably just me and my really weird mindset, but I always feel a tad bit uncomfortable asking others for gifts. Why make others get you goods that you yourself can probably get on your own by your own means... that sort of thing. And and... OTL (Granted, I guess that's why RL friends have always complained when they're shopping presents for me--I end up taking advantage of holiday sales and buy whatever I need myself anyway lolol). But I did tell
callais I'd do these two memes (the other one having been that personal questionnaire thing), so here it is. Please take most of the answers with a grain of salt :D;
HOLIDAY WISHLIST MEME THING
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to reallybig ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") Theimportant thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves)could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
-Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1) My own country. It should have at least one industry with which it can competitively enter the world market with.
2) A standing army. And since I hardly inspire unwavering loyalty or ooze charisma, a standing mercenary army is fine.
3) ... paid account? Maybe? Very uncertain about putting this one up since I'm not particularly IN NEED of a paid LJ account, but I'll admit, I'm horribly envious of the ability to edit comments.
4) Tasteful earrings. I don't alternate between a lot of jewelry (one necklace of which I haven't taken off in 5 years, even when showering; more recently, a stainless steel band, which I only take off when washing dishes), but earrings. *___* I am such a magpie for simple, but stylistic earrings. Here're a few photos of my favorite pairs (truly a handful out of... perhaps 30 or more pairs?)
Fishbone pair from
kye_kestrel, amethyst snowflakes from my aunt, three-drop silver pair from
therandomweirdo, chained rhinestone dangle & the blue bead pair (lost its partner on the train two years ago) from
clareesespieces, upper-right-most dangle pair from
chibi_puck, angel-fish pair from my aunt (when I was 12?).
All from my mother. She has impeccable taste.
Mine. Bought the white quartz pair for only 25 cents at a garage sale, the cuffs on ebay, and the rest in China.
5) Good earphones, or simply recommendations of. I've been through... god, I've lost count of how many earphones I've been through. Some Sony (with shitty wiring), some nameless brands (with shitty wiring), some really comfortable ones but with shitty wiring, etc. There seems to be a pattern? /laughs
6) The Mukuro to go with my Hibari cellphone strap (which was itself a gift from
_hissori a few years back ♥♥♥).
I wired on the bells myself |D
7) Maccha dessert, candy, or even just the powder itself. This is one item that I fucking adore, and that I oddly refuse to splurge on for personally. IDEK, I make no sense to myself sometime.
8) SNAIL MAIL. THIS. THIS IS THE BIGGIE. Cards, photos, letters, postcards, foreign sweets and snacks. I love seeing various handwritings, doodles, how you guys dot your i's and cross your t's. Will be unlocking my
contact post for the duration of December to mid-January.
9) Fic or art for series/pairings/characters I like. :3
p.s. This is me making a born-of-laziness request, but, anyone else who has made a list, can you please comment here with a link to it? So I can see what I can do.
p.p.s.
12 Days of Christmas Meme (bottom of the post). Taking 12 requests on a first come, first serve basis.
