Concerts?

Nov 20, 2010 11:44

I just got tickets to My Chem's show on Friday, 22 April, and am so flipping excited! But... It's my first concert. Ever. So, what can I likely expect, what should I do beforehand, etc. etc.? Thanks!

And yes, I am going in costume. Code Violet is coming OUT!

real life, bandom, my chemical romance

I have no idea what to expect from a My Chem concert, being neither a fan (sorry!) or having any close friends who are fans, but I've been to enough concerts that I might be able to offer some pointers. I'm guessing it's standing/general admission? Do you want to be at the front? Are My Chem hardcore fans as batshit crazy violent as most fans? Do you have sensitive hearing?

And congrats on your first concert ever! It's addictive. Seriously.

Well... In an interview Frank said "We have the best kids ever, and if some other band thinks they have better fans than us... Well at least our kids can beat their kids up."... MCR fans are pretty tough shit.

Hee, I read your comment and it sounds pretty much like any other big GA show.

About 90% of the barrier at any show I've been to has been girls and older people and small people. I figure they're the ones who want to actually SEE the band and not get smushed in the process. Not saying that you won't get smushed, but at least you'll have something to hold on to.

And how early do their fans queue? I mean camping out early or mid-morning early, 'cause I know different groups of fans have different definitions of 'early'. I've never yet camped out for a band - I really don't think it's necessary - but I know to a lot of people 4am would almost be regarded as the same thing, haha.

It is basically just like any really big show. (Worst show I've been to was Silverstein, there was a fucking circle pit -.-')

That's exactly why those people are at the barrier!! You still get really squished, and some girls end up cracking ribs on the barrier, but sooooo worth it :P (*raises hand* I cracked a rib at the fall out boy show, not gonna lie.)

Ummm... Well, the earliest I've ever camped (we brought a Styrofoam cooler full of drinks and snacks) was about 8 hours before the set started... There were already about 15 people in line when we got there. The mcr show, the set starts at 8pm... The latest I want to be there is 2pm. I want barrier!!! *determined look* It's going to be pretty scary, but lucky for me being short with tons of concert experience, you can throw me into the middle of a circle pit and I'll still come out alive (bruised and a little broken, but still okay and ready for more!)

Oh geeze, if you're in general admission... You're going to want to wear shoes that you can tie tight, you don NOT want one of them to fall off. Hopefully your costume fits pretty well, so you aren't going to loose that... The crowd will get pretty rowdy. I'm talking full blown mosh pit. It you don't want to be in that (you most likely don't) stick to the sides of the stage, or get there SUPER early, don't buy merch until after the show, just head straight for the barrier. It's going to be a rough show, but it's going to be soooo worth it. I'll be able to give you a better heads up in April, the Vancouver show is on the 2nd, and I have tickets... Oh!! It says no cameras, but I can tell you like, a billion different ways, to get a camera into the venue. (Hopefully I can get my bug DSRL in....)

Actually, and I can say THIS from experience (yeah, don't ask how... long story) I kinda adore mosh pits. Maybe I'll head for the fringes.

I'm wearing high-top Converse, don't worry. I'm not the idiot that goes to concerts in flats XD The costume is basically a tank top, the skinny jeans I was gonna wear anyways, and the rest is all tight little accessories (biker gloves, eyeliner, hair shit, and stuff like that). I would love to be nearer the front, but I doubt it (it's Good Friday, so I'm gonna be religious the rest of the day, and my dad doesn't want to camp out for it :( so we're not going to be there very early at all :( :( ).

Um, do you think there will be any way to secure a mask, or should I leave that at home? Also, since it's April... jackets. Yes/no? And how early do people wait for MCR concerts?

Thanks and love ya madly!

Well, so you know, this mosh pit is going to be really rough.

Awwww, you're going to have to fight your way to the front then, the trick is to skip merch and keep low. Keep your elbows in tight unless you need to shove someone out of your way, shove with your elbow, not your hands.

No there won't be, although, I've lost my hat in a mosh pit and had it come back to me half way through the set... I still wouldn't risk it. As for a jacket, if you're bringing a parent, wear it and leave it with them. It gets unbelievably hot in the crowd. We did Warped tour in the pouring, freezing rain, and still had to take off layers.

You're super welcome!! I'll give you more details on how band the pit's going to be once I've been to my show. :)

Thanks! Yeah, I'm a tough cookie (trust me, mosh pits + Kasu = other people get hurt XD) and I can do that. EASY.

And my dad's coming, but he's going to be distant. I think I'll leave my merch money and jacket with him. :)

Please do!

...Oh crap, what should I do with my phone?! My jeans are the stupid female type with 2-inch-deep pockets D:
