So, the Snowbirds were supposed to perform for us last night. It was sunny on Wednesday, it is bright today, but it rained most of yesterday. Still, everything was a go until 15 minutes before show time when the fog rolled in. It was like one moment you could see across the water, the next everything was white. Sucks!
We did get to go to the reception for the pilots and crew the night before which was really cool. We got to talk to them and they were super nice. Plus the food served was awesome. Yes, there are some benefits to working. Exclusive invites! Hugh was really excited and for once was not wanting to go home asap.
The whole thing made me nostalgic for the days when the snowbirds used to practice over my Elementary school all spring. It was noisy but cool. I remember standing on the top of the slide and a plane coming so close I thought I could touch it.
Supposedly they might be able to come again next summer to make up for the no show, but it is a lot of work to organize this stuff.
Very sad overall though. I was really looking forward to the show.
