Have you ever had one of those moments where you feel yourself changing? It's a moment when you can look just behind you and see feelings that used to be part of your daily life that just... aren't your feelings anymore.
I don't quite know what happened. I can guess, of course. But I think it all boils down to being a different person than I was 10 or 20 years ago. I need less. I enjoy more. I actually enjoy more because I have less to worry about "protecting".
I remember when I acquired some of my books. I paid outrageous prices for them at retail bookshops in Ireland. I carried them in heavy suitcases across two countries. (Thank God you didn't have to pay overweight baggage charges back then!) I paid non-refundable VAT on them. And then I came home and they sat safely in a box and I never opened them, never read them, never even displayed them.
Back then, it was important to me that I had them. It was important that I'd hunted and obtained them. It wasn't so important that I never used them. They're still out-of-the-box new today.
I keep thinking that I should renamed "The Great Organization": "The Great Un-Acquisition"
Funny how we change. Funny how our priorities morph, even in the course of a single year. Isn't it?
Anyway, if you're interested in some really good books, many of them unopened,
please check out my Amazon store And if you're interested in rare books, please check out
my ABE Books site.
More books are being added to both sites daily. If you have any questions about any books, please contact me through those sites or directly at my email address.
