Got in about 60 seconds of meditation/depp breathing and one sun salutation before the whimpering from downstairs demotivated me. It's hard to focus when you're worried about what a 14-year-old greyhound will do to your rugs. But everyone was healthy and good and I brought two boxes of books in from the summer kitchen. That was exercise!
Found an interesting book called "Textiles" by Norma Hollen and Jane Saddler. It's a college text for Iowa State University (my uncle did not go to any college) and this edition is 1968 by MacMillan. In pretty good condition. Except that it's printed upside-down. When you open the front cover, you're looking at the upside-down index at the back of the book. It's like they put the cover on upside-down, but it's the original cover. Weird...
Today I am going to:
- clear the top of the dresser
- organize hats
- organize shoes (assemble shoe rack)
- gather up the laundry
- sort the accessories I threw in a laundry basket yesterday
- go through my sock drawer and throw out any old or unmatched socks
- go through cold weather gear
- organize luggage
I could make a run to Goodwill today. They're open from noon 'til five. I'm afraid if I don't go soon, I'll start putting things back in the dressing room. It's been a sheer force of will to get rid of the entire under-bed storage bag of dance/exercise clothing without opening it. If I open it, I'll keep some. And it's all 1980s dreadful.
I need to go shopping too today. No matter what the ladies at Mueller's told me, carrot cake is not a vegetable and one should not eat it for dinner. Farmers down the road have broccoli and early sweet corn. I needs me some o' dat! And possibly chicken though I may just burn it.
More later I am sure...
Update ay 7:45 am -- Just fed dogs and realised that I can't take things to Goodwill until Monday because I have to photograph some with Robin's camera. I could go today and go again later in the week, but I'd rather do it all in one trip I think. And that way I won't talk myself into keeping the stuff I'm photographing.
So today I think I might go through the drawers on my side of the wardrobe and see if anything can be discarded from there. I think it may be full of yoga pants and tank tops, which are my summer uniform. But it's so crowded in there that I can never find anything.
Oh, and the dresser in the guest bedroom! Gotta look through that! I have no idea what's even in there!
I totally forgot to wax rhapsodic about the puffy dove-grey clouds catching the colours of the sunrise this morning. Or the fact that I love my lawn because it's mostly not grass and I wish I could figure out how to kill off the grass that is there so I could have an entire lawn of wild violets and clover and wild strawberries and those little things that sprout yellow flowers once a year. Certain times of the year, our back yard changes colour daily with the things that bloom. And none of them ever get high enough to have to mow. But we have enough bits of grass that you have to mow it anyway. =(
The hops are reaching out and tripping me as I come out the back door, so I need to cut them back. They scratch! And the tall weeds next to the carriage house are overtaking my entrance to the back yard. Damn! I didn't want to have to do any yardwork!
Eating yogurt now. Not thinking about yardwork in the heat.
