Dad has a hernia. Which affects me more than it should; ex: 1) he can't ride for at least two weeks, and 2) no heavy lifting for at least a month, which means who helps me move my shit in to the N. College Dropout? My skinny friends in Ox?
I've been listening to the new Bright Eyes a lot lately. Mostly because my iPod is still on the blink, and because I only have like four CD's at Mom's. But I'm down for it, because it's a good CD, and a lot less "wintry" than his last albums. I dig it. Good summer Nashville-ish indie folk rock'n'roll.
Telling people that I'm indeed not in Vegas is less cool for me than it was when I was telling people about how I was going there. Did I write in here about how much fun it was to gloat about it? I don't gloat a lot, but I felt that justifiable reason to gloat, and so I did, and it was nice. Anyway, this is less nice; ex: texting Alec last night at 3AM-ish, telling him that I wouldn't be at the show Thursday. Fucking lame.
Last night was the first time since early May that I've been drunk--like actually drunk instead of just sleepy from drinking. Went to IC for Ame's last minute birthday bash. They closed earlier than we all thought they were closing (Why close at midnight on Sunday, but at 2AM on Monday? Are more people drinking later into the night on Mondays than they are on Sundays? Who makes these rules?), but it was a fucking fun two hours, and Face and I got sloppy drunk and Noah had to drive Face to get his car this morning.
Had an interesting (and really quick) political conversation with Jabin, who said that he prefers John Edwards
because Hillary Clinton is just too liberal, but he wants a Democrat. Now, it's not like I have anything to back this up--after all, I'm not working with the campaign--but it appears to me that's how America sees the Democratic field: Hillary's the liberal, John Boy's from the south, and thus more moderate/conservative. Is the campaign enabling this image, all the while being the most lefty of relevant (I hate that term) candidates?
I was watching
Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World for a few minutes on HBO. It is terrible. I am not an Albert Brooks fan, though I'll say I gave it an honest effort. Switched it to Serpico just in time to see Al Pacino shot in the face.
It is hot out there today! I thought about laying out and burning what's left of my chest, but it was too muggy and I gave up.
Grandpa turned 81 today. You know, he's got a lot of health issues, but I'd say that he's in pretty good spirits for an 81-year-old.
There was a raccoon on our porch at 3AM last night. First, I thought it was a rival cat of Ophelia's. Nope. ...A raccoon.
