Last day of classes.
The mad scramble to finish.
Met with an English buddy last night to help each other in our short fiction revisions. Then came home and worked that thing to the bone.
Spent most of today filling out course evaluations, and hunting down Bill Hardesty, the chair of the English department (as well as my 347 prof), in order to begin the petitioning process for designing my own capstone. He made a joke about my (low) grade in that class, and we both laughed. Sometimes you have to throw one of your classes to the wolves. He agreed.
Finally.
And done and done with classes.
One more paper (tonight), and then three exams. Two of which matter.
...Actually, so long as I pass my classes, these exams don't really matter. I'd have to skip them all to fail any of these classes.
I already have senioritis.
But, by far, the most exhilarating aspects of today (that's right: there were two) were 1) mailing my resume and application for a summer internship with John Edwards' campaign (and feeling confident about my expediency and my chances), and 2) learning via an e-mail from a Mr. Pat Lowry that I've been offered a position as a summer intern for Tim Ryan.
So I guess another door did open.
(But I still feel awfully lame using an expression like that.)
The First Democratic Debate:
Hillary wins by definitely not losing (like the insurgents, yeah?). Edwards--I think--moves ahead of Obama. Obama was visibly nervous in the beginning (and that's the only part anyone watches), and Edwards was the most substantive with his answers, which counts. Dodd sets the stage to become a second tier candidate. Biden's entertaining to see up there, but he's a dick. Richardson was also a little dickish and really really appealing for the libertarian Dems (but I never thought he was liberal). He drops in my opinion. Mike Gravel is right about almost everything... I just wish he wasn't being such a prick about everything, trying to make the real candidates look like shit.
Overall, I'm pleased with the way it went for my candidate. I'm disappointed with the format: you can't answer a question in 30 seconds. You can't.
