March 24th: Sleepy Day, but good

Mar 24, 2012 17:40

I had a great time with maiac and two other online friends at dinner last night. And have had a productive day today.

Greek food, NOM. It's been a while since I was in Greektown. Maia and I met up shortly after she got into town, and went to the Art Gallery of Ontario for a while. As always, I needed to make a pilgrimage to see Lawren Harris's art before we did much else. Then, it was off to Greektown, where we met our friends. This morning we met again for breakfast at the Church Street Diner, in the heart of the gay district. The food is great and the atmosphere is always fun and cheerful. It's not quite as hopping when it's not Pride week, but everything is relative, of course. It takes a lot for a place to get that hopping! :D

Then I had to come home and do some more editing. I finished the first major line-by-line edit, and then started the second read-through without the earlier changes showing in red. I've already caught some small things that slipped by me on the first detailed go-round; this is why I always want a second go. For my last two projects, the deadlines were so tight and horrific that I had no chance for a second go, and could only cross my fingers. Who knows what I might have missed?

But now, even though I should probably do another hour or so, I'm too sleepy to continue. The suddenly cold, overcast weather, an early awakening, and a very busy past day have conspired to make me want to head off with some tea and soup, to doze and read and fall asleep for the evening. I will really have to blitz the novel tomorrow. On the other hand, I think I tend to miss more small things at the beginning than nearer the end, as I'm getting used to the person's writing style and the story itself. If I don't quite make it to the end on the second go, I might still be all right.

This is all very boring to the reader. I'll try to be more interesting tomorrow. Ha!

editing, friends
