Friends are the family that you choose. And damn, I have chosen the best friends Cornell had on offer. Kates and Julia, you are forever my source of entertainment, scandal, relief, and utter happiness.
Here are some bits of a recent conversation that Jules and I had about Katie recently. I wanted to post this to provide the rest of you with a bit of the glee that I'm privileged enough to experience on a regular basis.
*me*: ive actually been getting such great validation from you guys across the pond lately
beth on my wall and katie with her gifts
john sent me an amazingly sweet email this morning
and now this
wait, i see it now - this is a coordinated effort, isnt it?
*Julia*: yes
we met last week over coffee
john was really nice
bought me a pastry
and katie was inappropriately flashing the waiter
because he hooked up with her the night before and then started treating her like crap
Next conversation, we were discussing an outfit that Kates was wearing on a night out once. We couldn't decide whether she actually had any pants on or not. It was a long and hilarious discussion.
*Julia*: with the underwear showing!
wasn't it a beach dress?
that she thought, in a moment of inspired katie-ness, was a completely appropriate outfit to wear out in manhattan at night?
*Julia*: i remember being positively outraged when i saw her walking up to the restaurant
*me*: it might have been a beach thing, now that i think about it
*Julia*: so my assumption would be she came to the restaurant looking scandalous already
and i mean, she'd have to look pretty scandalous if she herself was questioning it.
That pretty much sums up Katie - she'd have to look pretty scandalous to start questioning herself. I hope you never change, the both of you, with your snarky comments and lude behavior.
I love you.
