So at least today i have a couple things good going on... Erin and I got to skype for over an hour, despite the stupid internet problems. DAMN YOU THAILAND.
Steph and I are meeting halfway between Kenosha and Pewaukee to get lunch at noon today :)
I faxed my application stuff to Mardi... (woohoo 16 pages!) though I forgot my resume because it didn't print right and just sent it to her as an email, I sincerely hope she catches that...
Pumpkin Spice Latte's are BACK at starbucks. <3
...
"OH MY GOD."
The words I just exclaimed at my computer. "Ohhh f my life."
direct quotes, friends.
After spending ALL DAY yesterday trying to apply for the job at Hamilton School District and then spending THREE HOURS hand typing my application (7 pages of application in 12pt font) based on the pdf they had online because their server was down... I just thought for shits and giggles I'd check to see if the server was still down today...
type-a type-a type-a.
click. click. ...click.
*bang head on desk* long whiny "noooooooooooooooooo."
Guess what? Nope! Workin' great!
fml
I want my September 1st back, damnit!!!
"ten bucks says... (followed by some negative statement)" has kind of been my mantra as of late. I guess that's me hoping to earn money since I can't make this whole "career" thing happen. Pft.
so...
Ten bucks says they don't even look at the hard copy of my application because I could now fill out the application ONLINE.
But... but... I tried! I tried so many times! I got all the way to the last page where I'm supposed to upload shit and your server went down! for the entire day! and your website doesn't allow me to save as a draft and come back to work on it later! so i lost EVERYTHING!
Tips for life as someone in the school of ed:
- learn spanish
- or hmong
- make sure you are all set to graduate, even if your advisor already said you are. literally go through YOURSELF and check everything. those people mess up all the time.
- be checking your DARS for anything that looks wrong, and say something, immediately, and often
- make sure that you have been graduated before you waste your money printing out transcripts that aren't good for shit
- get letters of recommendation and scan them into your computer, early
- apply to all the schools you really want to work at before the end of MARCH. that's how I got my summer school job... not that it helped me for the actual school year but at least I was happy for June and July!
- once you've completed your application, call the Personnel Analyst to see if it looks complete on her end.
- If you have ANY problems with the application, just call someone to see what the deal is and troubleshoot your way through it. If you leave it, you probably won't go back to it.
- is your principal cool? have them observe you and write a letter of recommendation (shoulda woulda coulda...)
- let your parents know you might be staying with them for a while
- try not to hate yourself when September rolls around and you're S.O.L.
love,
Kasey
