Fushimi Inari - 2011-09-27 (early morning)

Oct 09, 2011 16:38

Our trip to Fushimi Inari started very early in the morning, as we wanted to see a lot that day (once more).
But the sky was clear (read: we knew, it was going to get hot that day), so it was all fine.

Inari station is only six minutes away from Kyoto main station. When we boarded the train to Inari, said train was packed due to the morning rush hour.
On our station there seemed to be at least four schools, going by all the different uniforms.

They are currently renewing the area between the station and the shrine, so don't mind the signs of construction works ^^;

Entrance gate (rou-mon?)

Fox statues in front of the gate.

Gate from the reverse side.

The pic below should be the shrine itself. Please enlighten me, if I'm wrong.
I'm staring at the pictures here and continue to wonder if a) the pic below is the shrine or b) did we actually forget to take pictures of the shrine???

I'll just make it easy (for me ^^;;;) from here on and tell you: "And all the following pics were taken in the woods and on the grounds that belong to the shrine."

Those were BIG!
