Ueno Zoo - 2011-09-24 (morning)

Now where I'm back and I actually have time again, I'll try to upload the pictures/reports one by one.

There is a reason why we took only very few pics of the zoo. The animals there had next to no space (think of your local zoo in the 1920-1970s) and we felt so sorry for them. There was no way we could enjoy our time there. Quite a few animals showed signs of being locked up in a too small space too ;_;
They are working on bigger habitats, but they have too many animals to give each of them the space they deserve (in a zoo).

Yet, there were sooooooo many people going there on a lovely Saturday morning.

The deer had a little more space than other animals (which is why we took a picture)

Lovely pagode in the zoo.

The great lotus pond in the zoo.

Funny looking tree. I have really no idea what it is, but it seems to be right out of the "Neverending Story" or "Lord of the Rings" ^^;;; (or is that just a root?)

Uhm... yeah... it's not Japanese? But it looked pretty ^^;

As the zoo is home to two panda bears again since February, they had a lot of panda items for sale. vc_mel got himself a giant cookie.
(No pictures of the pandas themselves, as they were hiding in their habitat, as far away as possible from the MASSES of people who were standing there, trying to see the pandas. Lots of people make lots of noises too...)

Hmm... yeah... we left the zoo quite sad. Compared to what the city of Hannover did with their zoo and the spacious habitats there, the people from the Ueno Zoo have still LOTS to learn.
