Today was the BIG SPENDING day. Mel and I met in the city and went to Saturn (chain store that sells bigger and smaller electronic stuff). After looking around and reconsidering for some time, we had decided to buy our washing machine and fridge-freezer-combination there.
We looked around a final time and then settled for the two items we wanted to buy. Went to get staff-san. He first checked the fridge-freezer-combination.
"Oh, seems like it's the last one we've got here. Ah, there are little dents here and there and it looks very slightly damaged. Let me check if we've got some similar model..." In the end we got one from the same brand, but slightly more expensive. BUT they'll deliver it for free.
On to the washing machine.
We assumed it would be no problem to use the AEG model and dismount the top, thus making it a built-in unit in the kitchen (water supply is in the kitchen). It was more by chance than anything that we asked staff-san whether that would be possible. He goes "No, not with AEG. Either Bosch or Siemens..." Yeah... not.
Then we chose the washing machine that would have been our choice B. Sadly, that was the last one they had there and they won't get another one. [You are allowed to ask why they didn't sell us their last model then, but I won't be able to answer that one...]
So, some more looking around and after checking the manual for one machine, we went with a model that wasn't our first choice. The manual for that model consoled us though and told us that our assumptions were wrong.
Uhm... yeah... they'll get delivered to the new flat next week.
