Ugh, I'm so lazy. I almost didn't even capitalize that I over there. But seriously, I don't want to type. That's why I've been not-posting.
[I started this post, then let it sit like that for a bit, then did something amazing and I have to share right now]
OH MY GOD PASTA
I HAVE GOOD AMAZING NEWS OF EPIC PROPORTIONS
But I have to start the story at the beginning.
My dad locked my Windows account a week or so ago because I was staying up too late. (What are you talking about, Dad? 4 am is early, not late!) I, being me, flipped out, because I cannot last a single day without internet. So I immediately started setting up the computer next to me, a pitiful thing, with Linux. Also, while looking around my brother's room for wires and things that I needed, I found my mum's old laptop.
It was old. It's like, over 10 years old. It was clunky, heavy, and was running Windows 98. And I immediately made it my goal in life to get it working again.
It's been over 2 weeks since then (I got my computer back, thank goodness, but not before showing off my elite haxor skillz by setting up that other Linux machine in less than a day, installing Ubuntu, connecting it to the internet, and making it a fast, usable desktop machine. (Yes, I am bragging. Leave me alone, I am excited about my AMAZING NEWS.)
Back to the laptop. My brother had deemed it as a lost cause, really, and he's a computer genius. I had been trying and trying to install some sort of linux OS on it. I tried Ubuntu first, which failed miserably. After that, I looked for linux OS's specifically designed for older machines, and came up with a list. I tried Vector Linux, which almost worked but didn't. Then I tried DSL, or Damn Small Linux. That worked better, but still failed. AND THEN I TRIED PUPPY LINUX AND TINKERED WITH IT AND IT WORKED! OH MY GOD! So I ran to rub it in my brother's face.
WOOHOO! I have a working laptop now! Right now I'm going to try and get wireless internet on it, which my brother has deemed impossible. Just you watch me.
I AM SO EXCITED THAT I ACTUALLY AM REALLY A COMPUTER NERD NOW! I mean, sure, I brag about having Linux knowledge, but this was pretty cool.
Hopefully, my next post will be from the laptop.
