Summary: Itsuki considers the differences between himself and Takumi.
Notes: Drabble. Could be in my IDP universe, but really, this has more to do with (re)watching Second Stage. Maybe Itsuki, like other characters in Initial D, is only oblivious north-north-west, and when the wind is southerly...
WIDENING GAP
*
Growing up isn't a race. Itsuki knows that.
It's just ...he was getting there first. He noticed girls when Takumi ignored them. He got his license first, even if it was only because he was two weeks older than Takumi. He knew road racing when Takumi didn't even know they were called 'corners' instead of 'curves.'
Then Takumi was dating, and Takumi had been driving since he was twelve, and Takumi defeated Takahashi Ryousuke, the White Comet of Akagi...
Even when the engine blows on the 86, it doesn't matter. Takumi has pulled ahead, and Itsuki can't even chase him.
