If I was a cat, I would hide behind a wardrobe or a shed.
If I was an elephant I would walk out, away, somewhere far. At least I'd have that certain knowledge of hundreds of generations before me of where I was going and that this was how it is supposed to be. I would not be afraid of my loneliness.

:) I expect I'd be an extraordinarily dumb elephant anyway, one of those that get accidentally drunk on fermented fruit, but life would be nicer; people would think I'm wise and majestic, and I would wander about with my herd, not bothered by anything, until I would decide it's time to retreat and go out never to return again. And that sounds pretty damn cool as well.

Maybe I should mention that I watched bits of a nature program about elephants recently.
