Things I don't need in my life #574

Sweden vs the US was a fun and exciting game yesterday!
At least one of the directly broadcasted matches always proves to be awesome. This pleases me :)

Not enough to ignore the foul taste that I get from the other game though.

There are teams you like and respect more and more every time you watch them play. And there are teams you loathe more and ( Read more... )

football, be decent

It was a good game, enjoyed it muchly.

I love it when a team fights for it with all the (still decent and fair, of course) means they have.

And yes, Brazil was at times brilliant, but at more times sorely disappointing.

(found gorgeous photo in salmiaggi's collection, wonder if it's suitable for a simple header for my writer's LJ... can I ask for favour?)

Disappointment is one of the most damnable and embittering feelings ever.

I hate how they make me feel bitter >:(

And yes, it's exactly it, fighting spirit and enthusiasm can make up for so much. But if you're lacking in that department... well...

Anyway, yes of course, ask away! I'm glad to hear you've found something nice :))

I tried to see at least some of (most) matches, since it was on TV (we have both Euro sport and public German TV) Saw some good things, and some not so good. But I do wonder: what could footballing girls and women achieve with even a quarter of the time and money spend on boys and men.
But I did notice many had the kind of fun men at that level seem to have lost, because of the commercial pressures (just guessing)

Thanks, that's really nice of you. You use the same e-mail address, so I can show the photo? :-)

I know. If womens football had the same significance as mens football... but the way it is not even all female football fans are watching it, and I cannot judge them considering that the reason why I started watching it a long time ago was out of anger about those that said it's not worth it.

... So many of those women study or have to work outside of their training and their lives as a football players; there is a lot of pressure form other sides, I believe, but the ennui and that kind of pressure that you describe, yes, it seems they're often more free to play, should be more free, and yet too often, they're just not single-minded enough, not free enough in their game itself, and this is the biggest problem to their play.

The email-address hasn't changed :)

To be honest I don't follow female football either (but part of it is because there's simply almost nothing to see on TV, or even via streams, apart from big tournaments like this)

Perhaps male football at the highest level is too much about money, and female football too much about having to prove that they can play a good, entertaining game. I can imagine both have a negative influence on the fun and quality.

Great, have sent a mail. :-)
