- Germany having won that game.

- Germany having actually reached the round of 16. OMG.... they were... I don't even feel like looking for the right words. Not totally bad, and Ghana was rather good, but... duh... it was 'exciting' in a not necessarily good way.

- Australia actually beating Serbia this ( Read more... )

... after the groups had been set, I thought Germany and Serbia would clearly be the ones to make it... hm. Poor Vida. Again.

Thank you very much indeed! And I agree on Heskey's performance. Defoe did so much better.

I must say I just don't understand Capello's motivation/plan/whatever you wish to call it all :/
Neither do I have the impression that he'd have much of a connection with the players anymore... thus building confidence might be quite not what he's spending his time thinking about... but where taking off strikers that actually really look like they're close to scoring and want to score are concerned, I completely agree. Wayne won't get back into shape that way. And they'll keep blaming him.

I don't get those people who praise these substitutions, honestly I don't, because there are those. I mean surely they must see these effects, no?!

as long as I'm not too passionate about either team playing
That's the important thing! I don't think I could take any badmouthing of my teams/players. I was so annoyed with some people today already.

I thought so, too. And yes, poor Vida!

Completely agree on Capello. He seems to be out of loop somehow. Such bad timing for that. And no, Wayne won't get back in shape by being on the bench and having his confidence thrashed. Dude.

I was so annoyed with some people today already.
I can imagine. So yes. No public viewing when the boys are playing. In everybody's interest. ;)
