My hair's shorter than it was before. Spiky rather than curly. Woo! Terribly exciting. Liz got an uber-sexy haircut, too.
Otherwise, life has been kind of stressful because I signed up for too many presentations/major projects to be due in the first few weeks of class. I had my first class facilitation on Wednesday for Teaching First Year Writing, which I don't think went as well as it could have. Tuesday is my first workshop, and Thursday I give a presentation on Tristram Shandy for my Seminar in the Novel class. Then, the following Monday I have to facilitate class discussion in an actual First Year Writing course.
What am I getting myself into?
I had my first day at my internship on Thursday; it was just the managing editor and me. He wanted me to count the back issues we have in storage and rearrange all the boxes, which took a while, but was nice and calming after having driven myself crazy the past couple of days due to schoolwork. I guess it'll be just the two of us in the office most of the time, at least at first, since the editor doesn't come in on Thursdays. He's nice-- calm, laid back. Swears. For some reason it pleases me greatly that I have a boss who swears readily on the job. I realized I haven't had one who did since I worked at Fresco in high school. Although I haven't really interacted with him enough to know how the dynamic on the job will be, it seems like it'll be refreshing-- different from, say, what it's like at the writing center (the writing center, for the record, is going well, too. Nothing terribly exciting, just talking to people about their papers, per my expectations).
My little bit of free time has been spent with the writing group. Last night was one of these readings done by grad students that the program puts on every other Friday night; a bunch of us went, then went to the local cheap burrito and margarita place to drink. After a couple of margaritas apiece, we then headed to a different local bar for beer (and, in some cases, more margaritas. Some people are hard core).
Anyway, time to get back to doing homework. Wee.
