Summary - Sammy didn’t know how he got into the make shift crib, all he knew was that he was three years old and Dean was a Teddy Bear.

Chapter 1 - Gabriel’s Joke

Sam really hated the times when Dean pushed the Halo-Patrol to points of anger that they’d never seen on Earth before. Sam tried to remind Dean that they’d been there at the very Beginning of the World and Saw Adam and Eve do the dirty outside the Garden - well, after they got over themselves that is - and that Gabriel is a heavy duty Angel who can smite whoever he wants if he really wanted too.

Dean always rolled his eyes at him and ignored the advice, until, it was too late. It happened in the woods around some back road, pig-farm town that didn’t boast a name that was recognizable before 1789. Gabriel had pursed his lips in anger and then he snapped his fingers. Sammy didn’t remember much after, all he knew that he was in tears and that someone handed him a Teddy Bear and said; “Take good care of him,” and then he was alone.

Sammy hated being alone. He called for Dad and he called for Dean but they didn’t come. The Teddy was soft and it was the only comfort Sammy had. He was cold and he held Teddy closer. Fat tear drops rolled down Sammy’s chubby cheeks to drip into the brown/blond fur.

Then he sniffled and grabbed the oversized plaid shirt and pulled it around himself. He rubbed a sleeve over his nose and finally decided that he had to do something. He looked down at Teddy. It had the bluest marbles Sammy had ever seen and that was when he knew.

“Dean!” he didn’t know if Teddy-Dean breathed or if he could choke Teddy-Dean by squeezing him tight with child arms. Sammy buried his face into the fur.

“What do now?” he whispered.

When Lenore came across the child, she couldn’t believe it. The child smelled like Sam Winchester, there was no mistaking the blood smell. It was unique and though a child of a person could have a similar smell, each person smelt different. This was Sam’s smell, she knew. She walked toward the child, soft and light upon the snow and didn’t leave a foot track in her wake.

The child heard her anyway. A chubby fist scrubbed at red eyes, he whimpered but seemed to know her; “Len! Le-ore!” he perked up at that.

“Sam? Is that you?” she knelt down beside him. Around him were the weapons of his craft. His clothing and Dean’s wasn’t too far off but Older Brother was no where to be seen.

“Sammy! I Sammy!” the child replied. Then he made a face.

“What happened?” Lenore asked. She had never wanted to see the Winchester’s again, but she owed them nonetheless. Dean would show up soon but until then, Sammy needed to be kept safe.

“Gabby, that wa’ happ’ed,” Sammy tried to say, but the words were garbled by a small tongue that did not articulate very well.

“I see,” Lenore said, though she did not know who Gabby was. She took up a deep, brown leather coat the smelled of Dean and frowned. She lent closer and put her nose to the Teddy Bear.

“Well, that explained that,” she muttered.

“Lenore?” Lee’s voice echoed around the empty glen and she turned to see the older man looking at the three curiously.

“It’s all right, Lee,” She wrapped Sammy and Dean up in the coat, “Dean’s been turned into a Teddy Bear and Sammy’s a three year old kid,” She stood, easily hefting Sammy in her arms.

“What are they doing here?” Lee asked.

“I don’t know, but I’m sure they aren’t after us,” She walked towards Lee, “as it is, they’re weakened now by this magic and we have to repay them,” she smiled gently at Lee.

“I trust you,” Lee replied, though he didn’t look too happy about the decision. Sammy rested his head against Lenore’s shoulder. Women felt weird. He decided. He was used to the long plains of Dean and hard bone of Dad. They were strong and they kept him safe. Lenore had curves in weird places and though he knew he was an adult and that he’d been turned into a three year old, he knew not to put his hands on her boobs. It wasn’t polite and Lee probably wouldn’t appreciate it.

He yawned though, and relaxed. Lenore wasn’t Dean or Dad, but she was just as strong because she was a Vampyre and she would never hurt him. She made him feel safe and at the moment, that was all that mattered.

“Let’s go home,” Lenore said. She glanced at Sammy who held Teddy-Dean tight to him, he was fast asleep and she saw Lee’s mouth twitch in a half-smile. They disappeared into the snow mist. It was too cold for Sammy and he would need to be in a warm place by morning.

Not far off, hidden by tree’s and their Angelic Magic, Castiel and Gabriel had watched.

“I am not sure this is a good idea,” Castiel muttered. He wasn’t sure if he should be upset that two Vampyre that knew Sam and Dean Winchester had taken the two away with them to their nest, or if he should intervene and change them back to normal. Though, knowing Gabriel - Castiel probably couldn’t do much of anything but watch.

“It is fine,” Gabriel was smirking beside Castiel, “They’ll be fine, you can make a Guardianship bond with Sammy and those Vamps will never know the difference,” Gabriel clapped Castiel on the shoulder before shifting and Castiel was alone.

Sammy didn’t know how he got into the make shift crib, all he knew was that he was three years old and Dean was a Teddy Bear. All he knew was that he was somewhere safe with people who knew him and Dean. Probably they didn’t care - but that didn’t matter.

Beside his head was a sippy cup of milk. He was hungry and he grabbed it up sleepily and started sucking it down. Teddy-Dean watched silently, and was still. Sammy sat up and tried to give some to Dean because Dean must be hungry too, but Dean didn’t drink and milk just dribbled over the fur. Sammy whipped it up with a corner of his blanket before sighing despondently.

The sun shone faintly through dark curtains pulled across the single window of the bedroom. Sammy wasn’t sure what time it was; he pulled himself up with the help of the solid wooden bars of the crib and tried to find a clock. The number didn’t make any sense when he found the digital placed on a table party was across the room.

“One, Towa….ent…” Sammy said to himself, he pursed his lips and flopped onto his bottom. He looked over at Teddy-Dean who had fallen over onto his side. Sammy dragged the bear up and set him against the bars for support. Now, facing each other, Sammy could see that the bright blue marbles swirled with faint white clouds. He cocked his head to the side to try and see them better. He couldn’t make out any pictures, but that didn’t matter. Dean was with him. Sammy smiled brightly.

“No worry, Dean!” and he snuggled up to Teddy-Dean, softly petting the fur. “We be good,” he promised.
