I got the chance to go up and visit my brother and his wife this weekend. They just bought a house and moved in April 8th. I had seen some *before* pictures but the work they did to it was simply amazing.
It was a great weekend. I drove up on Friday afternoon and left late Tuesday morning. I definetely needed the time away, and visiting them was perfect. Friday was a nice relaxing day. I just hung out until Brian and Noelle got home from work. Then we had a leisurely dinner and watched a movie. Saturday was the grueling day, as they did put me to work, but I was glad to be a small part of the transformation the house went through. We had to sand, primer and paint the entire kitchen. But it looked so awesome when we finished. Sunday morning I got to see my brother play soccer, something I haven't done in *ages* and now I am wanting to start playing again. That afternoon was beautiful weather and we had a barbecue. They had yet to use their new barbecue, so we made good use of it. Noelle's (my sister in law) parents came up, along with their good friends. It was a good time had by all as the wine and beer was flowing and the food was yummy. On Monday, I spent the day with Noelle. The one thing I had looked forward to all weekend was going to see Noelle's new niece. She was just born on April 11th. Paige is a beautiful little girl. I got to hold her, and after that I went outside and played with her big sister Caroline who is 3 later this year. She and I made flower cups and chased Auntie Noelle aroudn the yard, and then they proceeded to chase me as well. After we left there, Noelle and I had some lunch and then went to see 'The Sweetest Thing'. I must say, the movie was much better then I thought. It had me laughing most of the time. The weekend overall was great. We relaxed and chatted and caught up on our lives. I hope to be able to do it again soon.
My brother and his wife are only 3 years older then me, but a world ahead of me in life. I don't see myself being able to buy a house or be anywhere near where they are in their lives anytime soon, and when I say that I mean many many years. But visiting them has got me thinking about the things I want out of life, and what I need to do in order to achieve them. My brother is helping me work on my resume, and my goal is to have a new job by the fall. It is definitely feasible, but who knows what will happen. I have a good idea what I wan't in the future now, but its going to be a long hard road to get there.
