10 Things I Love About You....a picspam for scifiland
For this challenge to chose to picspam "The Pretender", a show I am still proudly claiming as my favorite. And my favorite episode from all the Pretender one is the first episode from the fourth season "The World´s changing". You want to know why, just follow;)
Reason nr. 1
"The world is changing. Mr. Parker is gone, Mr. Raines is gone, Miss Parker is ... God only knows where. But you and I are her... and I'm in charge."
If I wasn't sure before, after this episode Mr. Lyle is officially ma favorite villain of all times. The contrast of his behavior to the white tuxedo he wears, the perverse pleasure he got from torturing Jarod, yeah, you just cant hate him, you must just and just adore him.
Reason nr. 2
We have got a lot of naked chest in this one and yes, I am that easy. It made me really happy but I also loved to see all Jarod´s emotions playing a symphony on his face, the desperation, the resistance. Yes, Mr. Lyle, you need way more to break our favorite hot Pretender. Any also, my little shipper heart jumped at Jarod´s reaction to the news about Miss Parker.

"Like I said, the world is changing."
We all know that Jarod is brilliant, that he is a genius and all that but its very nice to see him in action. I adore his every single look and though in this scene, you can perfectly see when he is thinking what, and the end! The angst is killing you, I love it!"
Reason nr. 4
"Who is the albino?"
"Someone more important than Jarod."
This show showed us such a huge range of villains. You got a new one in every single episode, but the best are definitely from the Centre. Mr. White is one of them, he is the perfect deadly face villain without showing any emotions and the way he played with Jarod. Yeah, as sick as sad.
Reason nr. 5
"A family is a tyranny, ruled over by its weakest member."
The relationship between Miss Parker and her father is the most complex in this show. You can see him letting her down, forgetting her birthdays, gifts he gave her. He made her the way she is and we all know that in a way she hates him for that. But in this episode we got the only glimpse of affection Mr. Parker has for his daughter. And also, the hospital, it had the old school Centre feeling with strange people doing strange things.

"Jarod´s soul is clouded."
"His mind is still sharp."
There isn't a single thing not to love about this scene, the way Lyle threatens Angelo, Jarod faked despair and then his wonderful trick with sleeping pills. Yes, breaking Jarod isn't easy, you should already know that Mr. Lyle. And the hug, we finally get a real Jarod/Sydney hug. I am not a big fan of Sydney but he was great in this scene.

THE WORLD IS CHANGING
You will hear this sentence multiple times in this episode, its said by Lyle, Miss Parker, Sydney and it all has the same meaning.
For me it has a huge one, does it for you too?

"Do you believe in miracles, Miss Parker?"
"I believe in revenge. Now tell me, why did you try and kill Daddy?"
"A selfish, misguided act. But it came from above, as God is my witness."
"This kindness crap may slay´em at the parish potluck ... but it ain´t cuttin´ it with me."
"Then I´ll turn the other cheek. Miss Parker, those miracles I mentioned - they begin with love."
And she again didn't kill him. Because we all know you cant kill Mr. Raines. He dies and comes back again to surprise you with new plan and his finding God, really you think you got us? This scene also shows us that Miss Parker isn't the monster she thinks she is or the others think she is. The only person she ever killed or thought she killed was Lyle and that was definitely self-defense.

"You shouldn't underestimate Jarod. And you should never underestimate me. And the next time that you send me into building that is gonna explode, it had better blow, because if it doesn't its gonna be your gray matter they will be mopping up with a toothbrush."
Doesn't she have the best threats ever? You know, after this scene I can perfectly understand the people who ship these two, I am holding myself with one sentence "They are twins!!!" But the chemistry these two have make you wish they weren't. And this is definitely one of the best exchanges they had and we had another beautiful one in the first movie. I need to rewatch it:)

"At least we put one family back together."
"Well, my got break apart again."
"I know the feeling."
"You know, Jarod. Maybe Lyle is right, maybe the world is changing."
"Doesn't seem to matter how much it changes, it´s still the same for us. We are alone in it."
The most epic scene of whole series!!! I would also say the shippiest moment also, did you see the double "we" Jarod used. Did I miss something? I would say there started the secret alliance we shouldn't know about ;) I also love when Miss Parker says Jarod´s name without any venom in her voice, oh my happy shipper heart. These two will be in it forever!!!
Also, I would include honorable mentions of Jarod´s phone call with Sydney. Or Mr. Parkers : "Your brother is the only one you can trust." Yeah, really.
