Hey, the Emmy prenoms came out today. I'm only going to post the ones for the soaps I watch because I haven't been diligent enough to run around the internet and check out the other lists.
AMC prenoms
Lead Actress - Bobbie Eakes, Susan Lucci
Lead Actor - David Canary, Thorsten Kaye, Michael E. Knight
Supporting Actress - Rebecca Budig, Alicia Minshew
Supporting Actor - Jeff Branson, Jacob Young
Younger Actress - Kelli Giddish, Leven Ramblin
Younger Actor - Michael B. Jordan, Bobby Steggert
Okay, riddle me this. Why is that Thorsten and Alicia are in the exact same storyline, yet he's a Lead and she's still Supporting? For god's sake, Alicia's a Lead, she's on every damn day.
Jeff Branson? Really? Okay... I guess it's better than Cameron Mathison being there because he has SUCKED this past year. How can someone become a worse actor? Is he lazy? He can't find his motivation? (I'd understand if it was that last thing because Ryan is an asshole.)
I am laughing my ass off at the fact that Jacob is now too old for the Younger category, yet Kelli, who played his pseudo-mom, is still eligible. Sometimes those casting people scare me.

My above rant re: Lead vs. Supporting? Also here. The baby switch storyline and all the lead-up dominated the bulk of the year and it revolved around the Jennifers. Landon's in the Younger category, so I'm fine with her placement but Ferrin should be in Lead. I mean, if someone's on-screen way more than the other two noms in the Lead category, then they should be Lead! Geez, this bugs me every year.
Thrilled that Trent's finally getting some recognition for his work as Henry. He's great, and I'm glad they finally gave him a contract so now he's eligible for this stuff.
Kind of a no-brainer on the Younger noms. That's all they had that was eligible for the category. I like Zach, I know he's not that great but he's improving little by little and I loved his interview where he talked about how Casey was a bastard and how he wanted to die every time Landon looked at him in character. But I'm a realist -- even if he wasn't up against such a young powerhouse as Jesse, he really wouldn't have a shot anyway.
Alexandra, on the other hand... She's a good little actress. But Landon's really REALLY fucking good and will overshadow anyone else. If I had any confidence in the Daytime Emmy process (*glares at Natalia Livingston and the people responsible for her win last year*), I'd say J-Lan was a shoe-in. But again, realist.
