Sometimes the demon gets locked in a cage
How many stories have a hero with a monster inside?
Monsters released to preserve, to avenge
Teams of friends take on the worst of the world
But the worst is always in there, waiting
And sometimes the fight has intolerable cost
The brightest stars lost in the void of the sky
And the demon clatters at the cage, demanding
But that's not how it's done,
no, child
You walk in there freely and of your own accord.
Place your hand on that snapping head.
Press it against the floor.
The demon is yours, has always been,
Yet in the face of the pain of love lost
You are the larger demon in the cage.
It is mere hatred.
You are seraphic rage.
