I took my ipod with me to work for the first time in a while.
I'd kind of gotten out of the habit of listening to music while working, but for some reason I felt like shutting the rest of the office out, and sitting in my own little world; typing away. I put it on random, as I often do, and somewhere around 4:15pm, waltz #2 by elliott smith came up. I had to stop working for the duration of the song; I'd forgotten how much I liked it. and it'd been so long since I'd heard it last.
it's amazing the effect that a song like that can have on you; catching you unaware.
I listened to the whole xo album when I got home from work. so bittersweet. sad, but with a slight glimmer of hope tucked inside.
now I have sweet adeline stuck in my head. and I'm now determined to learn how to play it on the guitar. it's ambitious, but I think I can do it.
too bad most of his songs are a tiny bit too low for me to sing. not that I'll ever to get up the courage to play/sing in public.
memories,
guitar,
work
