so on sunday, jenny cross laurie and i went, on sunday, to this neat renaissance choir performance at the chapel at Wesleyan. it was really nice, i liked it a lot... there was this man sitting two rows (pews) in front of us. As Cross pointed out, he looked a lot like our junior-year chemistry teacher, Mr. Garofalo. anyways, this guy found it necessary to be the FIRST AND LOUDEST ONE CLAPPING after every song. He clapped with his hands up at brow level, nodding his head approvingly to make us think, man, i'll bet this guy is really intellectual and has an appreciation for fine 17th-century English music. anyways, he was great. i'd want to have someone like him in MY audience. but after the first six or so songs, i decided that after the NEXT song, i was gonna start clapping first. ME. i announced my plan to my friends and the girls in front of us, and when the next song finished, boy was i ready. But not as ready as this Mr. Garofalo two rows in front of me, he started clapping extra-early, almost as if he KNEW i was trying to nudge him off the podium. Anyways, i wasn't discouraged, and i made sure to watch him as the next song ended. As soon as i saw his hands move past his shoulders (remember, brow-level), my arms shot forward and i started clapping like no tomorrow. it was my moment of glory, ya dont even know how proud of myself i was. i was congradulated, and the audience's applause tapered off, and it was then that i noticed something. Mr. Enthusiasm was still clapping. oh HELL no... since i had beat him out to be first clapper, he made SURE to be the last one to stop clapping. So of course i made sure to clap last after the next song (which means the harpsichord guy was playing the first note and you heard my one, stupid little clap), then i got tired of the game and thats the end. great story, kari.
anyway.
got to stay with Ray yesterday. It was wonderful. he picked me up so i wouldn't have to drive to plainville in the snow and hail (i was already on my way when he called, but i was closer to my house, so i was very happy and relieved. i did a slushy k-turn and went back home... hey, he was at Central anyways, it was on the way). Crap, i gotta go, i'm going to central to visit a bit, i'll gush some more later.
