I went to VAMPS' first London live last night and needless to say, they were awesome! Being the last leg of their European tour (they went to Barcelona, Paris & Berlin before coming to London), they were scheduled to play for two nights (6 & 7 October) but had to cancel Sunday's live because HYDE fell ill. I had tickets for both shows but could only manage to get the VIP ticket for the show on Sunday (VIP ticket consists of meet & greet, group pictures, first entry etc) so was a little disappointed that I couldn't meet HYDE and K.A.Z. Then I got a call from Ticketmaster saying that the VIP tickets for Sunday would be valid for Monday's live too and so, yes, I met HYDE and K.A.Z and shook their hands!!! HYDE was cute and shy, almost sheepish while K.A.Z. was more into the 'look you in the eye' and shook my hand with a firm handshake and a dazzling smile. When I told K.A.Z. - '来てくれて、ありがとう!' - and HYDE - '大好きです!' - , they both broke into smiles. Awwww...(*v*) HYDE is without a doubt the sexiest 40-plus year old I've ever seen. And he doesn't even try. We took a group pic with both of them and were shuffled into the venue wait for the show to start.
Where I stood was the nearest I've ever been to a concert stage. Not quite the first row but there were just 3,4 people in between the stage and where I was. I met a nice lady from Florida (who flew in specially for this concert) and we pretty much rock & rolled our way through the two hours of smexy live performance. The venue was tight and awesome and VAMPS have such a diverse fan base... I wasn't quite expecting this for VAMPS but while entering the venue, I saw salaryman, students, punk rockers, lolitas, kawaii Japanese schoolgirls, middle-aged housewives, couples in their 20s... people from the UK, US, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Singapore...
My favourite performances from last night are 'Memories', 'Angel Trip' and 'Life on Mars?'. The acoustic version of 'Sweet Dreams' was really sweet, almost poignant and not what you'd expect from a rock concert. HYDE's mc wasn't too long since he had to do it in English and he at times lapsed into 'ええ、本当?' before switching back to English. Btw, yesterday's concert was also broadcasted live in Japan and several other Asian countries and will be shown again on YouTube's Black & white utagassen (Naoto Inti Raymi's the MC). I can't wait for the DVD!!
mocoharuma - I'm tagging you in this post cos' I thought you might be interested (^^)
And there is this crosstalk between Naoto Inti Raymi and HYDE broadcasted on YouTube for Black & White Uta Gassen, sponsored by Toyota and YouTube. It came with English subtitles (presumably for the intl' fans) and HYDE is really funny there. His mood varies according to TV hosts and he had appeared on TV programs without wanting to say much. He was certainly in a good mood during this interview~ (^^)
