I'd just like to let everyone know that I almost died today....Okay. I'm exaggerating, believe it or not...sorta.
After Practicum this morning, I went down the street from Kate Collins to the gas station because I didn't have enough to get to the next farm over, much less I-81. Since this held me up several minutes, I missed the mass exodus of practicum students and the long single line of cars. You see, for twelve miles, we are on a two-lane road. Since the speed limit for most of it is 55, it's never really a problem. Today, I wasn't behind anyone, so I was free to go as fast as I wanted. But after seeing a couple cop cars, my speed was only about 60. LUCKILY. (This is where the near-death experience occurs).
I just went over one of the many hills that we travel over, when I see a pick-up truck barreling towards me...IN MY LANE. Now, I understand that on some stretches, drivers may legally pass other cars, blah, blah, blah. I slowed down so that she wouldn't hit me. Anyway, she (yes, it was a woman driver...a hick woman driver in a pick-up) passed him and changed lanes to get back in front of him. If I'd been going slower, I wouldn't have gotten over the hilltop in time to see the cars and slow down and all that and she and I probably would have crashed.
What kind of idiot decides to pass someone in this manner, when they can't see over the freaking hill to see if there are any other cars coming?
Anyway, I'm alive and well. Aren't you all lucky?
