Wow, it looks so great! It's so bizarre to me that flats in the UK and other places in Europe often come with furniture included -- that's totally uncommon here (in the part of the US I live in, at least).

The kitchen looks lovely especially.

The flat was originally put on the market with all the white goods (washing machine, cooker, fridge-freezer etc) included, with the rest of the furniture open to separate negotiation. I decided to make an offer at the asking price if all the furniture was included, and they accepted. I can just sell anything I don't need.

I have no idea how common that is over here - I'm kinda new at this. :D

I think that it's pretty common to get the white goods included (most places we viewed included them), but not always other furniture. We got some stuff because the previous owners were moving somewhere smaller - I think that if someone has done the house up to sell, they're buy furniture to dress it, and would be happy to sell it then.

Be wary of furniture! Some of the stuff we bought with the house was rubbish and is now just taking up space. Couldn't even Freecycle it!

I didn't spend a lot of time examining the furniture, but what I saw was in good condition. Certainly the living room stuff, which is really the only stuff I need.

That's such great news - congratulations! It looks very nice. And look, it has that cute European washing machine in the kitchen thing going on! I don't know why that tickles me, but it does. It makes me want to put a microwave in my laundry closet.

Because we don't have (space for) a laundry closet!
Although often they are in bathrooms (if those are bigger).

Personally, I'm tickled by all UK homes having the fireplace as focal point still. Although this one actually seems to be housing fire :)

I have a feeling that when I move it, my TV will quickly become more of a focal point. :D

I only wish I had enough space for a laudry/utility room. My sister does - Lynne and her boyfriend just bought a four bedroom new build a couple of months ago - the kitchen is huge, and it has a laundry room off it.

But the way I prefer I see it is that I have waaaaaay less to clean. :D

Awesome news, sweetie! Your flat is lovely. I sincerely hope that you intend to burn that hearthrug, though *pulls face*

[edited to add] Could you do an Amazon wishlist (they do household stuff) so we can buy you a housewarming present?

Oh yeah, there is no way I'm keeping that rug. Blech!

And thank you for the sweet thought. I'll need to think about what I'm going to need, then I will absolutely create a wishlist. :D

Eee, isn't it? I can't remember a time in my life when I was this excited, and yet also completely terrified.

It's gonna be good though, I just know it. :D
