I'm gonna start watching it tomorrow (bro is currently sleeping in my room D: and I don't have my headphones with me ;_;)
But I have to thank you for the analysis, this is the type of show I tend to enjoy with all my heart.
It's excellent. It's Princess Tutu excellent and I rarely say that. It loves more than anything else to rip out the viewer's still-beating heart and jump up and down on it, but oh, in a good way. ... excellent pacing, sharp writing, and the most fantastically written characters in a long time. A really long time, if I'll be honest.I think I'm gonna love it
( ... )
Oh, I KNOW absolutely one day that Orihime is going to succeed. She absolutely is going to. But until that day, she's just.. blah to me. A lot of blah wearing thigh highs =_= but I don't think your hope is wasted because they will eventually be fulfilled. It's just taking way more time than it should. <3
And you will enjoy this show. It's also got TRIPPY FREAKING ART.
The art during the fight scenes is insane. It's like it's from another series entirely - I've never seen anything quite like it in an anime. It's weird but beautiful. I really think you'll have more fun with it, since you're an artist. <3
Sayaka is... you know, I looked to the heavens during her appearances in episode 10. Sayaka is Sayaka and always is Sayaka, apparently.
I LOVED ten btw. I rewatched it more than fifteen times. I loved it, unspeakably so.
And so many people love Madoka, but I think it's because it really is an EXCELLENT deconstruction. Those are very rare and this one really just cuts at you hard.
I think Madoka-- Homura even more so than Madoka-- is the best example of 'regular girl gains super powers and learns to man the fuck up to help the ones she cares about' that I've seen in years.
Homura in her pink cardigan trying to build incendiaries off of the internet was simultaneously thrilling and heartbreaking.
**** SPOILERS **** Text in white, highlight to read.
You know that scene in 10 when Madoka kills Mami and starts crying? And Homura comes to her and asks her to please fight with her to save the world from Walpurgis Night? And Madoka turns these teary eyes to her and puts her chin up just a little, and agrees with the most heartbreaking little sound? I loved Madoka at that moment. She cried and cried but she tried so hard to do the right thing that she killed one of her closest friends for it

I'm glad Guildy and I set upon this plan of Mass Madokafication, because isn't it unspeakably beautiful?
Oh Sayaka. Sayaka is the epitome of the childhood friend who is devoted to the boy, exceedingly so, and look, she brings him music while he wallows indefinitely, isn't she something? Shouldn't she get him? She will win him with her steadfastness, you wait and see. He will love her back. Except. Well. That pesky thing called Real Life.
And this is one of the kabjillion reasons why I love this show.
Dude, the character designs, they are treacherous. They make you think that you're watching some cute whimisical story when you're really watching Faust as Magical Girls.
... You know, that may be the most accurate description of Madoka that I've heard yet. Faust as Magical Girls. .______. Brilliant, Lennan. Truly.
But if you watch now, seriously, you'll get to ride the wave of crazy as it is right now. It's incredibly popular right now and for good reason. Also, it's the kind of show that's going to have a pretty talked about ending, so I agree with Guildy that you're going to get spoiled. :3
As for Princess Tutu, it's a slow starter and it's really weird at times, but it's also just divine. It's got more fillers though, so keep that in mind - it is a series that needs patience, but the payoffs during the midseries and series finales are just fantastic. One of my favorite mahou shoujo. :3
"...when Ryuuken is in his armchair with a cup of tea and a monocle and not harassing his son."
If I were drinking something at the time of reading this, I would have truly spat my drink out all over my monitor. XDDD
I hate to be saying this, but I think I can really agree with you on Orihime. When I look back at how she used to be, I can say that I at least like that girl, though it is nowhere near my love for other heroines. But I am not sure how much I like this current Orihime. Sure it is nice to see her make a stand for Ishida and such, but it's like...it's nothing out of this world, most decent shonen characters would do such a thing; in fact many would go beyond their normal capabilities

I'll feel better once Kubo gets his pacing straight. His problem right now is that he thinks it can just go on and on and on forever - and it just can't. This has been discussed, but part of the controversy over Orihime is the fact that in the end, she just can't carry Bleach. That's not her fault exactly - Chad couldn't carry it either, for instance - but she just isn't the kind of character who can carry plot or one with goals that extend outside of herself. So, when Kubo devotes so much page time to her, 90% of the time, Bleach crawls to a grinding halt. I don't actually mind plotlessness that much, but I do mind this much of it, so he need to get his shit together. Once he does THAT, I think it will be much easier for me to read without wanting to stab myself.
Oh, Madoka is great. I think all the art people on my f-list will enjoy the fight scenes a lot because the art is basically on acid. :3 And that's even before the good writing~
That's exactly it. If we're to see Orihime like this for years to come it'll just be painful. I have no interest in seeing her go back and forth being "ok character" and "frustrating character" (mostly leaning on "frustrating") for chapters and chapters. I'd just like to see things resolved and then we can get on with the good stuff. I'm sorry, but I don't want the next 10 years of Bleach to be Orihime's coming-of-age story, it just won't work.

When Sea and I plotted to get everyone to watch Madoka Magica I had no idea it'd be this successful. Glad you like it.
Sayaka is an object lesson for us all, esp. Orihime, IMO.
