"...when Ryuuken is in his armchair with a cup of tea and a monocle and not harassing his son."
If I were drinking something at the time of reading this, I would have truly spat my drink out all over my monitor. XDDD
I hate to be saying this, but I think I can really agree with you on Orihime. When I look back at how she used to be, I can say that I at least like that girl, though it is nowhere near my love for other heroines. But I am not sure how much I like this current Orihime. Sure it is nice to see her make a stand for Ishida and such, but it's like...it's nothing out of this world, most decent shonen characters would do such a thing; in fact many would go beyond their normal capabilities.
I feel like I should be really happy at Orihime's proactive actions, but I am not. I appreciate it, but it's nothing to celebrate about until I see something deeper and until my expectations for her are not lowered, when compared to that of other characters. When my expectations for her don't have to be so low, then I'll feel a lot better. XD
I am totally going to watch Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika.
"If I were a religious woman, I would describe what I do every day as prayer: my desperate hope that Kubo learns from what is the truly cathartic, emotional experience that is Mahou Shoujo Madoka."
I'll feel better once Kubo gets his pacing straight. His problem right now is that he thinks it can just go on and on and on forever - and it just can't. This has been discussed, but part of the controversy over Orihime is the fact that in the end, she just can't carry Bleach. That's not her fault exactly - Chad couldn't carry it either, for instance - but she just isn't the kind of character who can carry plot or one with goals that extend outside of herself. So, when Kubo devotes so much page time to her, 90% of the time, Bleach crawls to a grinding halt. I don't actually mind plotlessness that much, but I do mind this much of it, so he need to get his shit together. Once he does THAT, I think it will be much easier for me to read without wanting to stab myself.
Oh, Madoka is great. I think all the art people on my f-list will enjoy the fight scenes a lot because the art is basically on acid. :3 And that's even before the good writing~
That's exactly it. If we're to see Orihime like this for years to come it'll just be painful. I have no interest in seeing her go back and forth being "ok character" and "frustrating character" (mostly leaning on "frustrating") for chapters and chapters. I'd just like to see things resolved and then we can get on with the good stuff. I'm sorry, but I don't want the next 10 years of Bleach to be Orihime's coming-of-age story, it just won't work.

Maybe I should pray that he does. XDDD
