Wow! I don't know why I'm surprised because I love his books, but Neil Gaiman won the Newbery for The Graveyard Book!

According to the Washington Post, Stan Lee has won the National Medal of Arts, the highest award the government gives artists! In a typical humorous fashion, Lee is quoted as saying, "I wonder what took so long."

GalleyCat had an item on ugly award statuettes for literature.
