I was going to finish painting the kitchen today, but my body was kind of aching after yesterday's painting venture, and since it's Saturn!Day, and Dorkboy convinced me that the walls aren't going to run away, I didn't paint and did instead things that didn't quite require the same muscles as moving a paint brush.

I should really count the move-in date as the day we returned the keys to the old place. So that's 11 days, and all we'd done by then was paint the living room and move our belongings. I hate moving, and what I hate most about it is returning a place because over the decades I learned that estate agents are functioning on the same principle as courts. Truth doesn't matter; it's instead about how to extract the most money out of someone. Sigh. I've learned a lot about writing letters recently.

The progress on making this a home is kind of slow, but on the other hand, I'm on my own here, except for the furniture assembly, which Little Man has taken over entirely *adores*. Besides the slow, progress is also kind of steady. We now have a nearly functioning living room that's definitely cosy, and I'll give it another two days before we have a fully functioning kitchen (in terms of decoration - other than that, it functions perfectly).

The living room, with the TV cabinet not-quite-yet-fully assembled. Yes, I know the colour of the curtains clashes. I didn't say it's done. ;)

The other end of the living room, with Dorkboy's work space.

Kitchen before painting. Pic taken from outside through the window.

Kitchen after some painting. Another day, and the painting will be done. Then some rearrangement of cupboard contents, assembling table, move chairs from living room, and it'll be done.

We woke up to snow this morning. :)

I also finished sock 1 this morning and started sock 2. Will post pic when both are done.

We spent two days (involuntarily) without heating this week. Thankfully, landlord is efficient, so it all got fixed rather quickly, thank goodness.

We also learned that Argos is way more efficient than Curry's. Or Zanussi. Zanussi, via Curry's, gave us a delivery date of the washing machine we'd ordered of ten days from when we finally managed to speak to them a week and a half after we ordered and paid. We live in a village without a launderette. 20 days in total is an unacceptable waiting time for a washing machine, and surely we're not the only one in that kind of situation. Argos delivered in two days. Not a Zanussi, but £50 cheaper with the same features.

I ordered my first three garden plants today. I'm happy.

home, rl
