Techie Girl

Finished another digital painting. This one actually started out as pencil drawing when my computer was down over the past couple of weeks. After my computer was fixed, I scanned the original pencil drawing to my hard drive and used that as the initial layer in Corel Painter X. I put a lot of effort into this one. Thirteen layers in Corel Painter X followed by four more layers of postwork in GIMP. I'd say I spent a total of 48-50 hours on this including the initial pencil drawing on sketch paper.

If you need a backstory on this girl, I imagined her as being some sort of repair technician in the 22nd century. She works in an extremely run down shop. She could use some shiny new equipment but for now makes do with old tools, spit, bailing wire, and the secret standby of every veteran technician...duct tape. Take a gander at her disheveled appearance and tell me what kind of day you think she's having.

Digital airbrush in Corel Painter X with a ton of blender brushing, effects, and postwork in GIMP. Original pencil sketch included for comparison. Click to enlarge:

I'm actually pleased with this painting for a change. I think I grew a little bit as an artist on this one. At least I hope so lol.

Anyway, have a good night everybody! SALUT!!!
