So, I kept reading all this stuff about Sean on Nikita, and certain questions about his past and his characterization (many of these questions attached to criticism of how flat he is, etc). And I kept sitting there thinking, what are you talking about, he's...
And that's when it hit me. See, there's this thing I read months ago, and I thought it was common knowledge, part of his character description when they released info about the new season. And then I went back and looked, and nope, it was a spoiler. It's still to be revealed. And suddenly I get it. I get why I'm so much more invested in him than a lot of people are. Because they don't know!
If you're curious, it came from a video of an audition tape for the character (I read a description of it, only watched it recently). It's not Dillon reading, though, and I'm already I'm so used to him that it's weird. But anyway, yeah,
here's the video. The spoilers are about his past, nothing in the present/future.
Knowing that clears up so many of the questions I've seen people asking about him (namely, why is such a supposedly moral guy working for Oversight and doesn't that mean he must be a bad guy). I can't wait for the reveal on the show.
