Let's see...Eureka, Nikita, BSG, Torchwood, and Doctor Who. All in one post. Oh my!

1. Apparently the new rich text setup they have doesn't allow my browser to spell check. I can do it in html view though. LAME, lj, lame.

2. So, Eureka is my new obsession, which means my brain has to keep creating really random crossovers with other fandoms. Because that's how I role. So far I have -

a) Alexandra Udinov gets back control of her father's company, but realizes it's too corrupt and she would become corrupt with it, so she dissolves the company but gets a huge amount of money in the process. She then retires to Eureka, gaining the benefit of all their security protocols in exchange for giving a huge amount of funding to Global Dynamics so that they aren't constantly worried about budget cuts. Alex and Jo become best friends and talk about guns all the time.

b) The Astraeus mission discovers the Colonial fleet and helps them relocate to Earth. After an appropriately long quarantine, most of the fleet is dispersed throughout the US through a new branch of the Federal Marshals office closely related to the Witsec program. Jack helped set it up with some of his old buddies (including Mary and Marshall, naturally). Certain key Galactica personnel, however, stay in Eureka to work alongside Global Dynamics and share their knowledge. This includes, well, pretty much all of the main cast. Just because I said so. The final five all regain their memories thanks to a piece of technology that Zane and Grace collaborated on. Kara and Jo become best friends and talk about guns all the time.

3. Speaking of shows that crossover easily, I think I finally figured out what's been bugging me so much about Torchwood: Miracle Day. I mean, aside from it being kind of awful for the most part.

As the last episode so helpfully reminded us, this takes place in the same universe as Doctor Who. I think with Children of Earth, everything happened relatively fast and I could kind of forgive a lot because of that. Miracle Day is stretching on and on. Am I supposed to believe that Jack hasn't contacted Doctor Martha Jones? That Martha wouldn't have been on the phone to The Doctor within hours of realizing the human race had suddenly become immortal? And what about Sarah Jane? Is she just taking this lying down? Or Wilf? Who was so upset out camps in the alternate universe Donna got stuck in for awhile? He's just not going to do anything about them rounding up and burning people in camps?

The problem with this show being set in the same universe as another show is that we as an audience know that there are other people in the world who would be all over this, and that characters on this show should know about them, and yet they aren't even mentioned. Obviously I don't really expect them to get Freema (though that would be awesome), but you couldn't at least have Jack tell Gwen in a throw away line that he can't get a hold of Martha or he did but she doesn't know anything and her special Doctor phone got busted hunting aliens or something? Anything? I know they've got to consider the new Starz audience who may have no knowledge of Doctor Who, but those of us who know and love both shows would appreciate a token effort on the part of the writers to acknowledge that we're smart enough to remember basic Doctor Who canon.

eureka, crossover fun, torchwood, nikita, doctor who
