1.  I haven't gotten around to watching Vampire Diaries yet, but this was the episode with Damon and his new "girlfriend", yes?  How awful was it?  Like, should I pour a glass of wine before watching, or just bring the bottle.

2.  You know what wasn't, in any way, awful last night?  Nikita.  Nikita was 10 kinds of awesome, with the awesomeness of Alex and Nikita working together and thinking through a problem and knowing how to improvise when their plan went bad and NIKITA BREAKING OFF HER HEELS TO RUN AND FIGHT BECAUSE GUESS WHAT FIGHTING IN STILETTOS IS STUPID and then more angry Michael/Nikita eye sex and then Alex and Nikita bonding over wine and milk at the end.  There are things they do that bother me sometimes, but overall I just want to draw little hearts all over this show.  I will be legit upset if it doesn't get a season 2.  The internet seems divided on the chances of that happening, so I'm just going to be an eternal optimist for now.

3.  So I'm making a dress for sculpture  That'll be fun.  This dress specifically.  The version with the longer sleeves, and made out of pink linen instead of ugly shiny floral.  Because fuck it, I like pink.  I'll be doing a punch of iron on transfers of text, which is the sculptural part.  I've been thinking about written history and the importance we give to it, even though there is no intrinsic truth to something just because it's written.  So the text is going to take that old get-to-know-each-other-on-the-first-day-of-school game Two Truths and a Lie and punch it up to 100.  It's going to be covered in facts about myself, some of which are true and some of which are not.  And then I'm going to wear it.  Should be a good time.

4.  Movie watching- I've watched Notorious (Hitchcock version, not the 200-whatever one about the rapper) and Roman Holiday recently.  Liked both a lot.  There's a quality that classic movies have that just doesn't seem to be there anymore.  I don't mean quality as in good, because clearly we still have excellent movies being made.  There's just something indefinable that's different, probably just a natural change based on the times.  Man oh man, Gregory Peck.  Yummy.

Also rewatched Under the Tuscan Sun over the weekend.  It has problems, but like Practical Magic I tend to overlook those because it just makes me feel happy.  It makes me want to up and move to Italy, lol.  Also, HOW DID I FORGET THAT SANDRA OH AND KATE WALSH PLAYED A LESBIAN COUPLE?!?  And one where Kate's character leaves Sandra during her pregnancy.  That makes Cristina's pregnancy and Addison's intervention way back in season 2 of Grey's Anatomy...OK, I don't know what that really makes it.  Ironic?  Funny?  Weird?  All of the above?  Something like that.

But anyway, I love how Francis realizes that she's found her happiness (the family raised in her house, the wedding, etc) without having a man.  That loving the other people around her is enough.  I don't think the last minute boyfriend was necessary, but I don't think it undermined the point of the movie either.  She's happy with what she has, but she's still allowed to enjoy her sexuality when the opportunity comes along.  Why shouldn't she?
