Who knew running errands was such a pain in the ass?
I had a plan for this morning. Go to the post office and send off a present, go to the BMV, register my kayak, go to crossfit. Crossfit starts at 9, so I left the house at 8. Oh, and Dennis took the car to go grocery shopping, so I was doing all this on my bike.
Get to the post office. Closed. They open at 7 M-F, but apparently not till 9 on Saturdays.
Get to the BMV, sign out front says cash only for boat registrations. I don't have any cash on me.
Get to crossfit. It was kind of a rough workout; we did dumbbell press/push press, and I suck at those. I whipped out the runs and the sit-ups faster than anyone else, but then I was ridiculously slow with the presses, and finished about a minute behind the leaders.
After the workout, I was determined to get my errands done. Found an ATM, went back to the BMV. While in line, a lady comes around to figure out what everyone is there for and to make sure they have everything in order, so they don't wait in line forever just to find out they're missing something. I got to cut in line since I was there for a watercraft registration. The form asks for a hull id number. Our boat doesn't have one, but it does have a previous number. Not good enough. I need to go to the division of watercraft office to get a HIN. So I leave, disgruntled.
Get to the post office. Try to take my bike inside to park it out of the way (huge post office, lots of empty space) since there are no bike racks outside. Post Office cop (apparently they exist) tells me to take the bike outside, and he'll keep an eye on it. I do so, grumbling. Get my package mailed. Post Office workers were all like "wtf? we don't care if you bring your bike in". Whatever. Bike was in fact still out there when I was done, so while annoying, not a big deal.
Get home. Am determined to get this boat registered cause I wanna take it out on the lake, dammit! Turns out that the division of watercraft office is only open M-F, 8:30-4:30. IE When any normal person has to be at work. :|
I am quite loathing government bureaucracy right now.
