So back on Rachel on Friday. Marty made me ride with TWO dressage whips. The double whammy really woke Rachel up. It was a MUCH better ride than any I've had recently. I was leading which I hadn't done in awhile. After we got going, Marty had us kick our feet out of our stirrups. We did much sitting and POSTING trot without stirrups. My inner thighs are still slightly sore from it; but I've gotten better about remembering to stretch after these types of lessons. Then we all got in a line and the first horse would canter around the arena to the back of the line while the other horses walked. It actually went quite well. Rachel tried to cut the corners a few times and I had to take her back to the spot where she came off the wall and make her try again, but we were able to get the canter and mostly keep it. And at one point it was an actual canter, and not her impersonation of a freight train. My dad calls her "a locomotiva". The locomotive, in Portuguese if you couldn't figure that out. :p
We had to do flying dismounts at the walk again, but this time I managed to not fall on my ass.
