The knocking became louder and Masaki didn't know if he should shoot the person for making so much noise or maybe something terrible has happened.

"I'm coming, don't be so loud or you'll wake up Yuriko..." Aiba covered himself better in blanket and opened the door with mixed feelings. Maybe he should be more careful, people who knock on others' doors at this hour whether were escaping from danger or wanted to murder somebody. The man sighed and looked at the silhouette who he could swear he knew, but it was hard to recognize anybody in this darkness. "How can I help you?"

"Masaki, it's me... Can we come in?" That voice... It can't be any mistake...

"Satoshi?! What are you doing here?!" Aiba moved away and let the man inside. "And what do you mean by we?"

The former dance teacher smiled weakly and gently unwrapped rather small package and showed a little boy, more or less Masaki's daughter's age, sleeping peacefully.

"He's my son, Masaki. Natsumi's and mine. His name is Natsuo." Satoshi smiled while looking at his child. Aiba frowned gently trying to understand the situation. If Ohno is here with the kid, that means Natsumi is dead or maybe in some miraculous way she survived, but had to be separated from her family? But wasn't it practically the same?

"Please, sit. Are you hungry? I think that some fish from dinner left..."

"Masaki, can I put Natsuo somewhere? He didn't sleep in bed for a few weeks now..."

"Ah, yes! Sorry! Come, we have old Yuriko's bed, it should be fine." The host leaded his guest to a small room near the kitchen and quietly opened the door. The small girl didn't wake up and just whined gently when the other child was placed in the bed under the window. Both men were looking a bit at their children and after a while they came back to the kitchen.

“You have a daughter.” Ohno stated and looked at his friend. He seemed much older than last time Masaki saw him and more tired even though only four years have passed.

“I do, and a wife. As you see, I found myself a new home. And you? What happened after I… left?”

“The hell opened its gates…” Ohno sighed and started his story.

Silence was something you couldn’t find in Sakurai’s residence. The air was torn whether by desperate screams of mental pain or loud fights between vampire brothers. Only days were a bit calmer, though not quiet at all. The situation in the castle was tensed, no wonder, Natsumi was pregnant and sentenced for insanity and death on the day that should be the happiest in her life. Satoshi asked her to abort the baby when it was still time and the girl thought about this solution, but when Victor said that the child doesn’t have to be born as a bloodsucker, there was no force that would make Natsumi get rid of the new life that was growing inside her.

“I won’t kill our child just because you want me to live. Please, understand that I would regret it for ages… Forever… Satoshi, you don’t know how long the eternity is…” Natsumi smiled and touched her lover’s cheek. She had days when she was herself, sweet, caring, maybe a bit cold and rude towards people she didn’t know, but that was her way to protect her family from strangers. Those whiles, when she was normal were like a few diamonds in the mountain of a broken glass. Most of the time she was suffering both from The Thirst and perspective of death. If you ask if she was aware how this whole situation will end, the answer is yes. Natsumi knew very well how much time she had left and she tried to use it the best she could. That’s why the young woman spent much time outside the castle, looking for as much sources of food as possible not only because of her condition and the fact she needed more fresh blood than ever before, but also because her family will need a way to get the supplies without her. In the times of the hugest pain she was screaming her lungs out, making sure nobody will approach her.

“Let me help you… I can’t stand that you are suffering alone…” Ohno said one day when they were sitting in his room, holding hands. Natsumi again changed the subject saying something about his long and pretty fingers, but he didn’t let her deceive. “I am serious. Here, drink. And rest for a while…” The dance teacher reached out his hand and showed his white wrist. The man couldn’t say the girl didn’t refuse. She was shouting, pleading and asking but he stayed still, offering her the only thing that could help her. “Drink…”

“No, I won’t. I already had my portion for today.” Natsumi said and gulped, fighting with The Thirst. Satoshi was aware that he tortures her only with his presence close to her. It was like placing a hot meal in front of a guy that didn’t eat for two weeks. No vampire is strong enough to fight the temptation of warm flesh pushed right in front of its nose. However the girl managed to run from his room and locked herself in her own chamber, screaming her lungs out. It was just a matter of time until Natsumi will give up and accept his offer… Nobody thought it turned out in the worst possible way…

The next months were calmer and peaceful, probably because Natsumi’s stomach grew and she wasn’t that strong or fast anymore. The girl was sitting in her room, allowed only her father and very rarely, after hours of begging - Satoshi inside. Ohno tried as much as he could to persuade the girl to drink his blood and he managed to do it a few times, saying it was for the sake of the baby. The dance teacher (who truly stopped teaching Matsumoto new moves since he became a vampire) back then didn’t know one horrifying thing. The girl vampire found herself a new source of fresh blood - Anzu. The official version was that the maid agreed on that, but Satoshi didn’t believe in that for a second. Knowing Ninomiya he used some of his tricks to make the girl sacrifice herself. Where was Sakurai during all of this madness? For the first couple of months he was depressed and stayed at his room or office, working as hard as possible. He wasn’t able to tire his mind, he was a bloodsucker, but he wanted to stop thinking about a person he loved the most and who left him. At some point the head of the prefecture found out why Masaki has left the castle, what made him go mad. He beat Jun so much that he would probably kill him with his bare hands if not Kazunari, who had stopped him. This was the second reason for the disturbance in the castle. Sakurai was torn by the urge of finding Aiba and his obligations not only as a head of the prefecture but also as a head of the household.

“Ohno-san, I can stand the fact that my brother stole the man I used to love… I don’t have feelings for him anyway. In fact I am happy that they seem to feel good with each other. I am mad that that brat changed Jun, but I can’t do anything about it now. The reason I am mad is that I lost Masaki because Jun still believed he loves me…” Sakurai sighed and rubbed his face. “Dark time has come to this house…”

“You are a vampire, sir… You feel the best in the darkness so I am sure everything will be okay.” Ohno smiled, even though deep inside his heart he felt something opposite.

“Not this time, Ohno-san… Not this time… I miss that light I had here…” Sho sighed and got lost in thoughts so Satoshi decided to leave him alone. Was there in the castle a person who could admit he or she was truly happy? Maybe it was only the unborn child, who didn’t understand a thing from the tragedy that was about to occur?

The days were passing by fast, one very similar to the other, filled with pain and screams. Ninomiya was spending as much time with his daughter as he could, leaving Matsumoto to his own thoughts. Jun was wandering around the castle without any goal. He couldn’t go to Sho from obvious reasons, he also couldn’t bug Kazunari. Their relationship wasn’t defined yet; they were sleeping with each other but was it love? Nobody knew, even themselves. That was the main reason he often spend time with Ohno, distracting him from the reality. Matsumoto wasn’t that bad if you know him better; Satoshi thought he even regretted what he had done. However nobody could turn the time back and there were more important things to take care of. For example, the birth of the child… Natsumi’s screams were different then usually and it was clear that soon she will give birth to a baby. Victor was in her room in a split of a second, along with Ninomiya. Nobody else was allowed to get inside the chamber because of a fear that the girl will change into a real predator.

“Victor… Please, save her… No matter what, please…” Kazunari pleaded but the blond man didn’t reply in any way, far to busy with taking care of the mother and her baby. The birth itself wasn’t different from any other; it went smooth and without bigger complications. The newborn baby was taken as far from Natsumi as possible, only a minute after he was born. Ohno wasn’t even sure if the girl saw him… The next events were described by Victor as ninth circle of hell. The baby was long enough in the room to make his blood’s scent spread in the air. Because he was a human child and Natsumi was drained from both: the birth and fighting with The Thirst it was more than enough to change her in the true monster. She started to fight and used all of her physical strength to knock the French vampire down.

“Kazu, don’t let her leave this room! No matter what, she has to stay here!” Victor shouted and made sure all doors and windows are sealed. Nino stood in front of his daughter and tried to talk to her but when he saw bloody eyes of predator he knew she was already gone. If his heart was beating, it would stop. If he was able to feel physical pain, he would feel it now.

“Natsumi… Nacchan, please…” Ninomiya whispered and took a few steps closer. The girl acted like a raged wild animal locked in the cage, trying to fight and growling. She didn’t attack yet, but it was just the matter of time she will. There was nobody or nothing that could stop her. All that counted now was the sweet scent of blood in the air. If Victor’s scenario was right, she will try to get out the castle and then she will attack every single human being in her way, drinking blood until she will be satisfied. But that won’t end there, once she will taste the fresh blood she won’t be able to stop. She will become a monster every one in this family is scared to become. Natsumi tried to move closer to the window, but the blond vampire cut her way, prepared to use all of his force to make her stay.

“Victor, is there a hope for her?” Kazunari asked, knowing the answer already. All he could do was to stand there and look at the predator that used to be his daughter. It seemed she became calmer and Ninomiya grabbed the tiny bit of hope but then one thing destroyed everything. Ohno, who couldn’t stand the waiting, stormed into the room bringing the sweet scent of blood and tasty sound of beating heart with him. Everything happened in a split of a second - Natsumi knocked Victor down again and jumped on Satoshi, biting his neck and drinking the blood. Kazunari found himself near her in a blink of an eye and used the strength he didn’t think he had to pull her away. With one smooth move he tossed her to the other side of the room, making sure Satoshi will get out of the chamber as soon as possible. This was so different from the usual way she was drinking the dance teacher’s blood… So dirty, unvampire and terrifying that it convinced Ninomiya there is no hope for his daughter. Meanwhile Natsumi seemed to sober up a bit and looked around with her calm eyes.

“Father?” She whispered and looked at Kazunari. “Is the baby okay?”

“Yes, he is a fine and a healthy boy.” The vampire whispered back and smiled gently. The girl smiled gently and licked her fangs, feeling the familiar taste. She shivered and crossed her arms on her chest, as if she wanted to embrace whether her son or Ohno. “Papa…”

“Y-yes?” Nino looked at her, remembering she always called him like that when she wanted something from him.

“Papa, please… Kill me. I… I can’t stand the pain… I am thirsty Papa… Please… Kill…” The woman looked up at her father and her eyes changed. “All the lower creatures…” She hissed and jumped on her feet, trying to find a way out. Ninomiya knew what he has to do. He quickly grabbed a silver knife that was on the nightstand and without hesitating pierced his daughter’s chest, hitting straight in her already dead heart. Natsumi screamed desperately and tried to fight for a while longer, but then she collapsed, shivering and crying. All Kazunari could do now was to embrace her and wait for the last signs of life.

“Leave…” Nino said as coldly as he could; he didn’t have to repeat twice, because Victor left the room and closed the doors, telling everybody to stay away from the room.

Nobody dared to do so anyway. Not after the terrible scream tearing the air, far scarier that Natsumi’s ones…

The last scream… Then all you could hear in the castle was a dead silence.
