Dad's 50th birthday was this last weekend. We had a huge party in the backyard, which was interesting. The guests were mostly people Dad knew from work, most of whom I've met at least once, but didn't really know. But we spent days beforehand running around trying to get things to look as nice as possible. (The backyard hasn't looked this good in years, despite all the grass being dead.)
Also, the family's been invited to a wedding this coming weekend. The couple is technically married, (they had a small ceremony last year) but they're having the big traditional wedding now that they have the time and can afford it. They're pretty cool, Dad's been friends with them for years and they've had dinner with us a few times.
This week is the last week of work for the summer session. Then I have time off until late September when the fall session starts up and we're an after school program again.
And just as I thought, Blackest Night, the big DC Comics event this year, is giving me nightmares. (My sister thinks this is hilarious.) I just don't handle zombies well at all, and superpowered zombies that also happen to be characters I like just makes it worse. (Of course there's lots of characters I don't like or am not as familiar with, but it's just as bad.) Generally speaking, I'm enjoying it so far, but I think I'll be glad when it's over.
And in other news, a guy I haven't talked to in years texted me out of the blue today. He asked me out to dinner, but he said "we" a few times so I'm guessing it's a group event. That or he's gone a little crazy since I last talked to him. I think I'll accept because he's a nice enough guy and I haven't seen him in a while, and it's not like my social schedule is packed right now.
