waht eves. Most people in the US will have forgotten about Torchwood when it comes back to BBCA in 2-3 years anyway.
Barrowman is confirmed to be busy for the next 18 months; Myles has publicly stated she is taking a year after her sprog is born; RTD is in the US for the foreseeable future.
I know we see certain aspects very differently, but I'm happy with where things are now, totally looking forward to seeing Jack back with HIS Doctor and willing to wait awhile to get the next series.
But as I've said all along, I'm a "single-issue" voter for TW. I love Jack Harkness, as close to the original, Empty Child version as possible.
“I can’t stand to look at her anymore.” That sentence hurt me, it really did, for reasons completely unknown to me actually. I've been thinking about it for days and maybe, apart from the fact that it's paining him too much to see Gwen suffering, he also wanted her to get away from it, spare pregnant!Gwen being imprisoned like him - and he needed someone to try and save Iantos family.
Still smiling at Gwen. Still joking with Rhys. She put on a new strap for him. Rhys paid for it. AWWWWWWW. Yeah... but I was a bit riled up with his last sentence. "I can, just watch me." After he told her in the first episode that he'd take care of her... I mean, I do realise that he's by default a bastard and I normally don't care, but there I was almost angry at him.
Rumors that BBC has renewed Torchwood for a 4th Series. If confirmed, we know he’ll be back. Which means either Jack/Gwen or Jack/ABI, and that means, I WIN, and all the real!Jack/ABI fans win.Yeah duh... BBC would be stupid to let TW go right now - it's been a hype, a blast, some kind
( ... )
Thanks so much for all your comments throughout the week. There were times during the last six months, hell the last two years really, where I've felt like a very lonely soldier. It's good to know how many people feel or felt the way I did and didn't always have a forum to say so.
I can wait too. We'll get the Dr. Who specials for Christmas and New Year and all I really need is one good smile and a "Captain Jack Harkness" and maybe a Doctor hug and my joy will be complete.
Please don't misunderstand, I too am a single-issue voter :D. (94115 vs 94118 :)))
I really hope that Jack is TOTALLY back to his original runner/conman self as seen in the Empty Child. I would love NOTHING more too see that guy again. Saying that - First Series Jack however is not something I think Barrowman is able to do anymore. He is too invested in the "hero-Jack". Have you seen his one-man show?
anyway, look forward to any fic (HINT-HINT) that may come out of the comiccon.
I've sort of resolved my David/John saga, but I might be inspired by this event to do something. I had a whole fic ready to go based on what I thought might happen at Torchsong, but clearly R.L. events overtook that.
It'll be very interesting to see exactly which Jack we get in Dr. Who but RTD did indicate (FWIW) that the events of CoE would NOT be referenced.
I've heard a few people say they're really disappointed/disgusted with what Jack did, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me (Seriously, don't ask me to explain why people are saying this, but that's what I'm seeing on my flist). I think he did the right thing, and I'll argue my corner against all comers.
I honestly don't get it either. Within the ludicrous framework, there was no other choice and the more I think about it really does look like the end of Small Worlds pumped up a bit and with more blood and the personal connection. Remember how the team all looked like they were horrified and rejecting him at the end of that? It's kind of different, but not that different.
Do you think I'm being deliberately obtuse in not seeing Jack being as "broken" as everybody else seems to?
Hmm... of course they were all horrified when he let Jasmin go. Because it was something unbelieveable, almost monstrous. That's also why they were rejecting him. But this time I actually think that's pretty much different, it's more like a personal sacrifice than something monstrous. Gwen's probably more suffering with him - and probably Alice for that matter - than even thinking about rejecting him. She's way to compassionate for that, and no one else is left from the team anyway.
Hello there! Welcome. Always happy to have voices who disagree, when they're willing to show their "faces" and be pleasant and polite about it.
How does anyone not get that Jack is a bastard? Did they not see the Empty Child? You have to set your alarm for volcano day, dude! Yes he wanted to be a better man for the Doctor, but I don't think the Time Agency hired and trained choir boys. He had the essential skills to be the go-to torture guy.
Thanks again for the comments. Now that it's over, I feel I can lay back a little. Others are still gonna fanwank the details, but unless RTD is lying through his teeth again, I ended up with no Ianto and a Jack who never schmooped out.
Time to start gearing up for the next season of House MD.

It was nice whist it lasted, I guess.
