Well that was a blast!

First hllangel came over for bagels and lox, and then she and I went for a very cold walk up Castro street with a stop at Imagiknit to buy a circular knitting needle for hubby.

I agree completely about you and your hubby's complaints about season finales these days. 9 times out of 10 I care less about watching the show after seeing one of those.

NO LOX!!!????? That sucks. I mean it's like I'm getting New York quality bagels and lox, but it's not half bad.

Seriously---I'd like to see one show not do a "WHO WILL SURVIVE?" or "THE MOST SHOCKING EPISODE EVER." Because they really tend to NOT BE what I generally like about the shows in the first place.

There's eh quality nova lox but no belly lox at all. And so-so bagels too. But then again, NY Jew here and kind of picky.

My favorite finales are the ones where the team gets closer or works through something... It's funny, but if NCIS ended 1 minute earlier it would have been a pretty good finale, but no, they had to add in the *shocker* end scene

Re: season finales. I am to the point now where I kind of hate season finales. The cliffhangers drive me insane and I hate how so many shows feel like it's not a finale if everyone stays alive.

So far this season I've only seen the finales for BSG and Life, both of which were months ago and both of which ended up being series finales. I just keep putting off the other finales.

Hey, the John Barrowman video for All Out of Love is certainly a visual treat, especially when he dons the black shirt. Mrrrrow.

I think the "WHO WILL SURVIVE!!!!" cliffhangers started with the Moldavian Massacre on Dynasty, which basically existed only to kill off Steven's gay lover, but was actually kind of shocking at the time. Now it's just bullshit and annoying.

The House finale, which should have made my H/W loving angst heart extremely happy, didn't do as much as it should have because of all the bells and whistles attached to it. "THE MOST SHOCKING EPISODE EVER!!!"

No. Not really.

I would have thought the House ending was shocking if I hadn't been thinking, "Someone out to forcibly put House in a psych hospital/rehab for his own good" years ago.

And I'd be more SHOCKED if the anvils hadn't been falling quite so heavily AND if I didn't think they'll still find a way to stick with the shows premise of "people don't change." Which I'm actually trusting them to do. Seriously...I want to come in on Season 6 and see House in therapy, COMPLETELY CONNING HIS THERAPIST and walking out of the nut-house without changing ANYTHING. Put dead!Amber down to exhaustion because there ain't no way House is really gonna detox.

there's a little bagel place in Alameda that has great bagels and they're less expensive than Noah's, the only snag is the guys who work there don't speak English all that well so it's kind of hard for me to make myself understood. I often get lox at Trader Joe's, their lox is good and not too pricey either! Ex New Yorker, here!
It was fun seeing you guys last night! (hugs) I only wish I'd been able to stick around longer. and I love Brian, he's such a sweetie! and what fun to meet hllangel! please let me know about the party ASAP! :)

The party will be happening when hubby is back on his feet, which is going to be way down the line, based on a little incident that just broke out here while he was trying to get from the couch to the bathroom.

Katz's bagels are ok, but nothing beats a NY bagel, for the same reason as the NY pizza---the water. Luckily, my taste for lox is nearly gone. Now the smell makes me slightly queasy.
