Nice week off.

Lots of yoga, live 12-step meetings, some karaoke and oodles of walking while the Bay Area was blessed with some gorgeous weather.

I finally put on my girl pants watched the last episode of Season 4 of The Wire. It was rough, but not quite as devastating as I'd built up anxiety for that kept me from doing it for a couple of months.

Should I go ahead and watch Season 5, if only for the sake of my fannish OCD? I'm mostly there for McNulty and I'm spoilered enough to know that doesn't end well, although not as badly as often befalls characters on The Wire. I feel like I need to do it before starting The Affair. What is it about Dominic West playing messed up philanderers that I find so appealing?

Tangentially, Hubby and I celebrated our 22 wedding anniversary early with a "date night" on Friday. We went to Mel's Diner and saw Three Thousand Years of Longing at the Metreon. First movie out (not counting Charlie Is My Darling at the Roxy after Charlie Watts passed) since lockdown.

I could listen to Idris Elba talk indefinitely and throw in Tilda Swinton and some amazing visuals, you have quite a movie. Kudos to the make-up people and to Mr. Elba for presumably having to have quite a bit of time getting the ears put on. Hopefully things like that have gotten more comfortable since Leonard Nimoy had to suffer for his pointy-eared art.

If I were going to get involved in Yuletide this year, which I'm not, I love to nominate the film and request more stories about these characters. Of course I'd also nominate RPF Travel Documentaries and ask for something where Joanna Lumley and Michael Portillo cross paths and some kind of possibly naughty British hilarity ensues and I hardly need to walk into the type of wank even asking for such a thing would generate. (Almost as much as asking for the Carl Sagan/Neil Degrasse Tyson slash-fic of my heart.)
