Clown Pants

My size 14 Gloria Vanderbilt gray slacks. I hadn't tried them on for awhile and I stuck them in the bike bag this morning. I knew they'd be loose...I didn't know they'd be damn close to literally falling down. Either I need some belts or some garments are going to be retired ( Read more... )

Woohoo, go you! It's always a good feeling to retire a garment because it's just TOO big. (At least I've always found it to be a Good Thing, YMMV.)

It was with great joy that I put the size 16's in a bag and left them on a corner to magically disappear. The 14's are another matter because those were "acceptable weight" jeans for years. Now that I'm lower than my previous acceptable weight, there's really one pair of "goal" pants in my possession and those are low-rides and therefore may never really fit.

Which means I have to clothes shop at some point, and that's a girly gene I don't seem to have been born with.

That's ironic, since the only form of exercise I've ever pursued avidly is "clothesrobics". Give me a dozen hangers full of potential new ensembles and I'm good to go. (As demonstrated by the fact that I got here ten weeks ago with one SMALL carry-on full of clothes and am now overflowing one rolling rack and a dresser,)

Nice. :)

Belts are good for the short term, but I find that the way they make the pants hang on my hips ends up giving me a sore lower back. Weird. Though it's not a problem right now!

One reason I HAD to lose some weight this time around was that basically ALL my pants were so tight they were giving me sciatica/muscle spasm in the lower back because they were pressing on my bum/thigh area. As long as the tight is at my actual waist, I'm generally ok, but the fact is that belting clown-pants is just going to make everything below the belt look clownier. I just hate clothes shopping, even when it's for smaller sizer.

Why aren't you focusing on the best part - THEY ARE TOO BIG FOR YOU NOW!

*throws party for you*

Because I have crazy-brain. Mostly I'm still focused on the size 14's and 12's that are not falling off because of my "child-bearin' hips" and wondering how much I can get off before I plateau. Lots of seriously effed up programming about food/body image etc. Thanks, Dad!

Ugh. Well, I'd still focus on the fact that progress is being made! *applauds*
