Reply and I'll give you four fandoms. You then have to make an entry writing about your favorite character from each fandom, and why.

She gave me:
Ashes to Ashes, Doctor Who, Numb3rs, Slings and Arrows.

Ashes to Ashes-Gene Hunt

He's just such an almighty bastard, and as much as I love Life on Mars and for all the issues I have with Ashes to Ashes, I almost feel like A2A was a better vehicle to convey the magnificence of the Gene Genie, even if the Quattro is no replacement for the Cortina.

I love the way he could be absolutely scathing and vicious to the team and yet somehow still protective, even of "Bolly Knickers," no matter how much she pissed him off. I really wish we'd gotten more of him and Shazz because that ship tickled a whole bunch of my kink buttons.

I think we got a better sense of the dark, brooding force of the man as well as his doubts and fears, along with his loves (Gene loves Sam) and loyalties. I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't seen it yet, but it did make sense to me (mostly) and cemented my love for this character.

Doctor Who-Jack Harkness

Is there anything I can say about this character that I haven't said already? (And come home soon Jack, the earth --- and Gwen--- really needs you.)

I will say that I love what he represents in terms of Dr. Who separate from Torchwood, because his Who appearances are still much more the pure essence of Jack Harkness, both in the Empty Child and the Utopia Arc. Hell, you can pretty much distill the entire character down to the Stet Radiation room scene and you'll know everything you need to about who he is and who he loves.

As with Gene, it's such a perfect melding of actor to character that it's completely and totally impossible to separate them. From the first Hollywood Smile to the Last Salute, it's a perfectly deliniated character, perfect acted.

Numbers-Larry Fleinhardt

I loved Larry, especially in the later seasons when both Charlie and Don got way too mopey and introspective. I'm not saying that Larry wasn't prone to that as well, especially his post-Space Shuttle period, but he was generally the most fun and interesting character on the show and I totally shipped him with Alan.

Peter McNichol managed to rattle off the cosmic science stuff brilliantly and give us a sense of how Larry combined intellect and wonder. I loved his relationship with Megan and wish that they hadn't had to write Diane Farr off for her pregnancy, because they were adorable together and it would have given me some respite from the horror of Charlie and Amita and Don/Liz/Robin whoever.

I've recently had cause to rant about why "supporting" characters need to stay in their supporting roles and I stand by that, but as supporting characters go, Larry was one of the best.

Slings and Arrows-Frank and Cyril

They get all best lines and they sing those awesome songs during the credits. They're who I would be in that situation. Just sitting back, watching the craziness and making snarky comments all along the way.
