After work today, I helped Mike & Amy finish up their move; most of the little fiddly bits are done. There's just a few small items, a lamp and a 50 gallon fish tank (with fish) still in their apartment.
A smaller fishtank has been set up at their house and has spent a few days getting ready for the fish to move in to it. From what Mike was saying, moving the fish like this will give them and 80% (or more) chance of survival. Trying to move the fish by putting them in bags, draining the tank, moving the tank, filling the tank and putting the fish back has about a 50% survival rate, and there's no guarantee they'll set the 50 gallon tank up in the place they want on the first try.
So their plan is to have the fish in the 30 gallon tank until things are settled and they decide where they want the 50 gallon tank. Once the big one is set up, they'll put the fish in it, drain the smaller tank and put it in storage.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I'll be having dinner with friends instead of my family, since my close family are in Arizona. It should be fun.
