The wonders of the Internets

Jun 10, 2005 15:16

So, yesterday, while avoiding doing my Chinese homework / studying for the test, I read books 3 and 4 of Niles: Demon Intern, having purchased the four available books and a poster from Dan himself at ACen last month. I read the first two books while waiting for the train, and didn't get around to reading the second two until yesterday (and now I'm rambling ... should I just give in and make this a stream-of-conciousness entry? Probably...). On the last page of the fourth book, a website is mentioned. Nowhere in the previous books is it mentioned, so I point Firefox to the URL to see if I can get a Lisa poster. I bought the Niles poster at the con, and after reading the first two issues wished I had also bought the Lisa poster. I found that the store only had the four books in it, no posters. So I sent Dan and email asking if the posters were con exclusives or what. Strangely enough, his email address is all over the books, but I couldn't find it on the website ... *shrug*

A few hours later, I'm talking to Hyde online and ask if he's read any Niles. He hadn't, so I didn't point him at the website, though I did refresh the site myself. Lo and behold, the posters are now available in the store.

Checking my email after class today, Dan has replied to my email saying the store had been neglected and he forgot the posters weren't there. It's implied that my email reminded him to put the posters in the online store.

A few minutes later, moon_orchid sends an email to all the GeekGene people about the new Hours Tracking spreadsheet she wants us to use, and I'm left confused as to whether or not I should re-enter my hours for May in the new sheet, so I IM her. She replies that I don't have to re-enter the hours, and that she has sent out another email clearing that confusion up for anyone else who may have had it.

The point of this entry is this: I love the internet. I am constantly amused at how responsive it can be and often is. You'd think I wouldn't be amused by this sort of thing, since I helped build and maintain Viadesto (a dynamic, web-based Content Managment System), and currently work behind the scenes at a soon-to-be-launched webcomic.
